One of my all time favorite birthday places! The sushi is great, the hibatchi is great, and ALMOST all of the cooks are entertaining! If you are looking for a birthday place this is it! And if you eat here on your birthday with a big group, you leave with a gift card as a gift from Mikatas!
Best Sushi Around. Anytime I want great sushi this is the place I go to. The environment is also really nice and the chefs are very friendly. But I prefer to sit at the sushi bar personally because the tables they have set up in the back are kind of awkward to sit at and try to eat sushi at for me. Not the hibachi tables, but the ones on the far left side of the restaurant. Other than that no complaints. They have a wide range of types of rolls and sashimi (my personal fav) that you can order from too. The actual hibachi part of the restaurant is also good. Nothing special, but I feel that almost all hibachi places are the same.
Very friendly. The negative note is the way they cook and serve food. Sloppy. But good tasting
Vegan Friendly. While the hibachi grill fare is nothing special as far as hibachi goes, what is unique about Mikata is that they are open to and friendly about dietary restrictions. As soon as I said that I do not eat any animal products, the waiter and the chef were very accommodating and careful. The normal non-vegan salad and soup were replaced with vegan-friendly miso soup and ginger dressing, and there were no qualms about making my fried rice vegan. This is very different than my experience at Shogun, where I was charged extra to have my food made vegan (which uses less ingredients), and where the waitress argued with me that it is vegan to consume beef broth. Mikata is a MUCH better choice than Shogun!
Best Japanese in Auburn!. Sushi and meals are very good. The staff is nice and remembers you from visit to visit. It’s NOT overpriced if you have ever traveled outside the 4 walls of Auburn, AL. I enjoy everything about this place during all of my visits!
Over priced. They charge you extra for rice! what the crap! They nickel and dime you.Food is not even that great.If you do happen to go, a chef there name Kevin is great. He is funny and entertaining
Very pricey and chefs do same trick over and over… Very repeatative so you’ll get sick of it quickly.
