First of all it was very dark and the chairs were uncomfortable. Their white/shrimp sauce was terrible. The soup was good. The chef also left the rice on too long on the grill so the rice was crunchy and burnt. The noodles also tasted bland and made us almost throw up. The meat which was chicken and shrimp had no flavor. Highly disappointed. No one from my party would return.
I loved it!. I’ve eaten at Shogun’s twice so far, (1 in Columbus, most recent visit was here in Auburn) and I thought the food was consistently delicious! The cook was cute, and I got the vibe he liked me but with my dumb shyness, I didn’t flirt back…. anyhoo! It’s a great place to go if your Gluten intolerant. Each time, I ordered the Teriyaki Chicken with rice and veggies. (Yum!) On another note, they weren’t very accommodating to my ma. She can’t have Soy, so she asked that her order be done without the soy sauce. After waiting extra long, she gets her order, and lo and behold, there’s soy sauce on her food! Then the hostess tried to excuse the mistake by making a racist statement about the Asian cook! I thought that was kind of outrageous and offensive. So she won’t be eating there again soon… But I love eating here! :3
Food was good. Salad had unusual creamy dressing but very tasty. Tempura was amazing! Calif rolls great and miso soup okay. Service attentive but tried to withhold our free scoop of ice cream and kept asking us if we really wanted it, very strange! All and all a very good meal. U have the option of sitting at non cooking tables with just your group by sitting in sushi room which we did.
Unaccommodating. I had a terrible experience here and will never go again. When I requested that my food be made per my dietary restriction (vegan), I was met with resistance and argument. The waiter argued with me, trying to convince me that it is vegetarian/vegan to consume beef broth, which of course it is not. When I received my check, I was charged extra to have my rice cooked without butter and egg, which of course requires less ingredients. Appealing to the manager got me nowhere. I will not return here. Mikata, on the other hand, gives a positive experience and is accommodating and friendly to all special dietary requests. I recommend Mikata over Shogun any day.
All around GREAT!!!. Shogun is an amazing place to go if you want a nice environment and amazing Japanese food. I have been pleased with all the servers and all are very friendly and responsible. The cooks that I have had are all very enterntaining, all different ages and all have different specailties in their show. The sushi that I have tried and that have been recomended by all the staff is some of the best I have had and honestly cant wait to try some more when I return. Every time I walk into Shogun the staff has always been welcoming and friendly and honestly makes me want to come back every day to share stories, laugh and eat great food. All around Shogun is a great place for families and an even better place to experience the food.
