This restaurant gets a plus just for being the first place at which I found the Jolie-Pitt Miraval wine. They have a HUGE variety of drinks that you can easily browse using an ipad. I ordered 2 appetizers and a drink at the bar and really enjoyed the atmosphere. The appetizers tasted really good. This is definitely a place I would go to again; I know I wont be disappointed.
I finally made it to the infamous Flemings. I have heard a lot about their steaks and how great they are. It was time to give it a shot. I made reservations in advance. When I showed up they were ready with a very friendly greeting and was promptly led to my table. The waitress knew my name and said hello with a smile. The atmosphere was great and it was as upscale as i expected. My first course was their modern caesar salad that was topped with prosciutto and capers. I was excited about it on the menu and it was a good decision to try it. My main course was the 12oz filet. Family style sides were offered and i ordered creamed spinach and the Flemings potatoes. The creamed spinach was good but nothing to write home about. The fleming potatoes were great. It is their version of au gratin with a touch of jalapeo. I’ll order it again. Now to the filet. This steak had a lot to live up to because of its local reputation. The sear on the outside was perfect. To the touch i could tell the temperature was right on. Now for the fork test. My eyes and tastebuds started to perk up as i took my fork and sliced through the center of the steak. The texture and taste were what I was hoping for. Was it the best steak in Birmingham? Possibly. Was it the best steak of my life? its in my top 3.Third course was the lava cake with ice cream, in house made whipped cream, and pistachio cookies. This is a dish you must order half way through the mea for it to be ready by the end. If you are a dessert person, then pull the trigger on it.So, I guess Flemings has their reputation for a reason. I greatly enjoyed the entire experience. If you are looking for a great meal and have the means to drop some extra coin on that meal then without a doubt Go For It!
Well, if it wasn’t for the 1,000 point table bonus on Open Table, I would not ever tired this chain restaurant. Unbelievable that is the same group as Outback, Carrabbas, and Bonefish. I’m typically not a chain guy with very few exceptions like Capital Grille. Great ambiance and wine list. Bread was fantastic! Modern Caesar was fantastic! And most importantly, the filet was fantastic! Also loved the F17 sauce. Only problem was the waiter was too serious. He was not the outgoing type. However, service was fantastic. I’m signing up to be a Friend of Fleming’s. Capital Grille or Fleming’s? Need to come back for more taste testing!
Outstanding…. we all got steak, cooked just the way we ask, the server did a great job, the meal and salad came out in a timely manner. My son got french fries with his steak they were just a tad overdone.
Excellent food and service. The new menu is outstanding. Probably the best bartenders in Birmingham. It’s pricey but they treat you like you deserve to be treated.
Are here on 3/1/2015. NEVER a bad meal. I absolutely love this place. Lettuce wedge is yummy, filet was INCREDIBLE and waitress was DA BOMB! If you’ve never been here, GO!!
Holiday Brunch – Mothers Day. I took my Mom to Fleming’s for their Mothers Day Brunch and we both thoroughly enjoyed the experience. She had the Caesar Salad, Prime Rib, and Cheesecake while I had the Seasonal Fruit, Prime Rib, and White Chocolate Bread Pudding. Everything was fantastic, but interestingly enough the single item we had in common was very different. Her cut of Prime Rib was very lean and tender while mine was more than 80% fat. That aside, it was a very pleasant experience.
