The atmosphere is great.. like stepping back in time.. glad we went if just for that. We got a root beer, a polish dog, chicken salad sandwich, and ice cream cones. The dogs were ok. The sandwich was terrible… I’m thinking it was made with canned chicken. It had a weird texture. If I did it over I would skip the lunch and just grab the sodas and ice creams. Worth seeing though.
Nice Trip Down Memory Lane. First thing to know when you walk in the door is to have a pile of cash. Did not see any card swipe devices. This is a perfect stop for parents who need to give their children a break to fill them with some food. Shakes, malts, sodas, burgers, and hot dogs are all kid friendly, and parents also like them. There is also a decent selection of ice cream, including Moon Pie. I’ll let someone else give that flavor a try. The salad sampler was good, although none of them were stellar. The chocolate shake was very good, and the egg cream was authentic. This is a working pharmacy with a dispensary in the back, but a lot of shelf and cabinet space is devoted to souvenirs, which I’m guessing is how they really make their money, as the food prices are remarkably low. A toy train runs around the perimeter of the ceiling, which is hung with maybe two dozen vintage airplane models, and there is a genuine old time feel to the place. Also it is better to park on the side of the building because it is very hard to safely back out onto often busy Hwy. 98, which has traffic lights at each end of this short block.
Had the famous key lime milkshake…yuck! It was just lime sherbet with lime juice. 🙁 Would not go back.
