I called this bakery at ten in the morning to order cupcakes to be picked up the same day. They were very accommodating, and had a dozen cupcakes ready for me by four. The staff was awesome! They were very friendly, and even gave me a free birthday candle and matches. The actual cupcakes were pretty good! They were standard red velvet and lemon flavors. The lemon was great! The red velvet was alright. It was hard to taste the cake with the cream cheese frosting, but the actual cake didn’t have a true red velvet flavor. It sort of tasted like food coloring, but this is always a danger with red velvet. I was a big fan of the lemon, though! Overall, I would recommend this bakery for parties and events.
Love it!!!!. A Specialty Bakery has made many cakes for me, my children and my dear friends. I can honestly say, I’ve never had a bad cake from there. The cakes are always moist and fresh. I’ve asked for some crazy cakes in the past and they always do a better job than I can even imagine. Everyone always asks where I get my cakes from and I gladly tell them Specialty Bakery. Ms. Brenda and her staff are always friendly and greet you with a smile; her prices are reasonable too. I’ll never go anywhere else.
AWFUL. I thought this would be the perfect place to have my son’s 2nd birthday cake made. Boy was I wrong. Their website is average but found a cake that matched the decorations so I was excited. The website also lists the different cake flavors and icings to choose from. When I went in to place the order I requested the cream cheese icing which is an icing option but was told it didn’t spread easily and could only choose buttercream or chocolate. Why list it as an option if it’s not offered? So I chose buttercream, placed my order, spelled my son’s name out letter by letter and left. I went to pick it up Saturday before the party and of course his name was spelled wrong. Not a big deal because it was an easy fix. I get the cake home and put it in the fridge. 2 hours later it was time for cake. After handing out the cake it was pretty apparent to everyone just how bad the icing was. Not only was it as hard as a brick but it was gritty and way to sweet. It’s pretty bad when the children would rather eat the cake and not the icing. My son’s fork wouldn’t go through the icing so his tray was a pile of hard icing when he was done. I’ve gotten way better cakes at Walmart and Publix and they were much cheaper. Paying more for quality is fine but this cake tasted like it was frosted 2 days before and left out to dry. I won’t make the mistake of getting anything from A Specialty Bakery in Gulf Shores again!
Highly recommend. I had a destination wedding and these guys did a GREAT job with my wedding cake!
