Another excellent seafood restaurant. This is our second time at FRG but the first time at the Gulf Shores location. It was just as tasty. We all had the fried shrimp platter. They were wonderful. The slaw & swamp soup was great. Hush puppies had jalapeo which I liked. Fried were just fries. Overall good experience.
Being locals, we eat at FRG #2 and #3 a lot! Always yummy and service is great. My favorite is Whitefish with OMG sauce and the Swamp Burger is the best in town!
We stopped in here one day for lunch. It’s in a stripmall, but the ambience was better than what I expected. The service was good and the place looked clean. I liked the swamp soup. We had a crawfish & shrimp poboy. It was good. I’d like to return to try other entrees.
Four of us dined at this great local restaurant tonight. My wife and I eat there regularly, but this was the first time for the other couple. The restaurant serves everyone a four ounce portion of SWAMP SOUP, a delicious hot concoction of collard greens, turnip greens, navy beans, great northern beans, black beans, sausage and broth. It is wonderful !! We told the other couple about the wonderful burgers and fish, but we wound up with the Reuben, shrimp poboy, and hot wings. All were wonderful and very reasonably priced. The Red neck beignet is their only dessert, bargain priced at $3.99. and better than Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. They are locally owned and have locations in Fairhope, Foley, and Gulf Shores. You will not be disappointed
Several of my friends raved about the fried catfish at Fish River Grill so today we met up for a late lunch. Coming in from the afternoon heat, the place was cool and very comfortable while we ate. I ordered the catfish filets while the others ordered the catfish strips. The swamp soup that came with our meal was very tasty – greens & beans cooked in chicken broth. A bowl of this would be so awesome on a cold winter night. My catfish filets were crispy fried in cornmeal and were very good. I tried a fried catfish strip from my friend’s plate and liked it better than the filet. The strips were not fried for as long as the filets and were a little softer. Their homemade jalapeo hush puppies were excellent – light, fluffy & spicy. The service was good, our food took about 15 minutes, their prices were reasonable & there was plenty of food – we all needed boxes for leftovers. I plan to be back for their delicious looking Bushwacker (I saw one delivered to the table next to us).
Great food, great service. I met two friends last week and we had a wonderful lunch. I have frequented the Foley location several times but wanted to try the new Gulf Shores one. We all enjoyed our meal. The OMG is to die for. The service was great! It is even nice to get a little thing of soup and a dessert. Will definitely be back!
Inside is very nice, wait staff was great. Food was very good. OMG was huge and delicious. Salad and tea were perfect too. Swamp soup is good but beans need to be cooked more. Their cole slaw is pitiful. Diced and chopped to cabbage mush. But everything else was wonderful.
