Abby and I made a huge discovery at dinner tonight. Unwilling to wait an hour to get into Papa Roccos and park two blocks away, we decided to try the new Crazy Cajun who took over Mojo’s location on Hwy 59, just south of Fort Morgan Road. We had heard from several friends that it was so good…..but that is an understatement. IT IS GREAT !!We were given the choice of inside or outside seating, chose inside which is super clean, not noisy, even though it was busy. Carla was our server. She was delightful, efficient, and professional. Her follow up during the meal was just right. The dinner menu runs the range from a Cajun burger for $9 to a filet mignon with choice of 2 sides for $26. Abby chose the fresh fried red snapper with collard greens and cole slaw. She is very picky about her greens, and stated more than once that these were the BEST she has ever had. I chose the fresh red snapper also. I had the choice of grilled, blackened, or Costa Rican, and was advised by the floor manager that the Costa Rican is heavily spiced with black pepper, but if you like pepper, it is the best. He was correct. It was perfectly cooked and delicious. I had the smashed potatoes which are basically red potatoes au gratin. They are excellent. The black eyed peas were also very good. You have a choice of about 9 side items including the 4 above plus red beans, Cajun cornbread, and others. The three desserts were tempting, and we are sure to try them on future visits. They have a real bargain on a bucket of 6 bottled beers of your choice for only $15, and a super good mixed drink of the month for only $2. This month it is a BOGGY POINT, which is coconut rum, dark rum, pineapple juice and orange juice. Delicious. We were told the lunch menu cannot be beat, and anticipate confirming that soon. The owner, Cory( yes he is a Cajun from Lafayette), came by each table and was very personable. In summary, do not miss this restaurant. The folks sitting next to us said they moved here two months ago, and this is their fifth time here. We will likely do the same.
