As an ex employee, I write this with ambivalence and difficulty. Because working there was a productive and fruitful experience. But ultimately, I have to let people know what I know about the owner and his management of the restaurant and staff. Let me say this first: the food is delectable. If there is any reason to dine her, let it be to support the cooks and servers who work their asses off. All the food is absurdly un- healthy, but let’s be honest, you came here for fantastic BBQ (and outstanding breakfast). Finally, to those who are curious what I meant by my opening. The owner, who’s name I will not disclose, treats his employees like shit. He speaks down to them. He gets in their way. He will only compliment you in an insulting, pedantic, or belittling manner. I felt as though he were constantly downplaying my efforts and my intelligence (which I know exceeds his, to be temporarily egotistical…). But if you support this place, great, the food will not disappoint you. Do not be fooled by the owner’s friendly outer shell, it is not his personality when it matters.

Don’t get a salad or the slaw plate with chicken-disgusting. chintzy owner who mistreats his employees. Delicious pies.
Michelle Dunn. My husband and I live in Birmingham and we were big fans of Demetri’s a few years ago & ate there quite often, however, a couple of months ago, I dropped by to pick up dinner to go. I ordered 2 barbeque plates with vegetables and the food was discussing. There was a lot of fat in the barbeque meat and the vegetables were not good or tasty at all. Tonight, I dropped by once again just to give it a second chance and I ordered 2 chicken plates and I asked specifically for white meat/ breasts and we both got a leg and thigh which was gross with little meat on them and what was on them was very fatty & not very tasty. The vegetables were not good at all either. Our buns were wet from the liquid from the vegetables. To say the least, we will not be back. I hate the fact that the restaurant has gone down so much over the past few years.
Love this place. I’ve always been a super picky eater and this place is so good. They have the best fried okra ever their BBQ sauce is deelicious, I get their BBQ chicken and always cooked perfectly!! Call in pick up and pick up at drive-thru super fast and convenient
Breakfast was great. Omelet and poached eggs to perfection, good service and plenty of hot coffee
Food and service were both great. A new and delicious twist on cole slaw…must try it. Pork sandwich was tender, not greasy, and not drowned in sauce. Onion rings were light and crispy. Service was fast and friendly. Well definitely be back.
