I was not impressed. Food was mediocre. They were fairly busy though. The menu just really wasn’t anything special. Seemed like some low quality ingredients were used to cut cost.

We had O’neil as a server and he was fabulous! The food came cooked to perfection. We traveled there on Valentine’s Day and despite the obviously busy staff, the food came out prompt. The filet 29 was delightful! A must for a romantic evening with the significant other.

Absolute worst valentines food ever!! Steak was overcooked, sent back and then was blood red!!! Never really apologized, waitress was snooty at times and totally overpriced for some garbage burned steak.

Had dinner at Grille 29 last night. The place is an attractive location for a romantic dinner…really a beautiful building, especially the high glass ceiling and the aquarium in the center. The noise level was a bit high last night because of a large party at the bar, but this calmed down fairly soon after our arrival. We started with a shrimp and pesto flatbread that had too much olive oil on it and was a bit messy to eat (the shrimp were falling off constantly…had to chase it around). The friseed green stuff on top of the flatbread was reportedly basil but was bland and tasted more like Italian parsley. The mozzarella was good. There was plenty of shrimp on board. Overall, a good but not great appetizer. The breadbasket served at the start contained only a loaf of sourdough…my wife’s least favorite. I liked it though.I continued with the Grouper Oscar (one of the 100 dishes to eat in Alabama before you die). This was very good. No complaints here. The grouper was a thick cut, cooked perfectly (and moist), and there was plenty of lump crabmeat. The hollandaise sauce was a little heavy, but I enjoyed it. The wild rice it was served on was also nice. The small amount of underlying grilled asparagus was OK. My wife had the Tuscan Chicken (very large portion….three pieces of breaded chicken breast) served on a succotash that included corn, cherry tomatoes, and edamame instead of lima beans, (I believe), and garlic mashed potatoes. She really liked this entree. I liked my taste of the succotash quite a bit.We had a nice bottle of White Oak Chardonnay which was good and reasonably priced. The prices here were overall a nice surprise. For dessert I had the white chocolate bread pudding…pretty average and unexciting (I still dream of the white chocolate bread pudding at the now-defunct Prairie Fire Grille…still Bham’s best WCBP, IMO). The best WCBP in the world is in Macon at Natalia’s, though. Just in case you were looking….My wife had the chocolate souffle’ which was nice but nothing to write home about.Service was only OK. I filled our wine glasses every… single… time… after the initial pour. To be fair, though, the service was not terrible. I’ve experienced both better and worse in restaurants of this caliber.So….no knockouts here, but the entrees were solid and the location is a nice place to dine. We’d definitely go back to try some of the other dishes.

Went in October after they had been open only a couple of weeks. Nice cozy place for romantic date and good customer service but not impress with food, wouldn return.

We were so excited to try this restaurant. Boy we were disappointed. Service was slow and inattentive. Got our drink order wrong. And had to ask for appetizer twice before it arrived. It came 10 minutes after everyone else got their salads. The black grouper was dry, average and not very good. To end the night the server overcharged us for three items we hadn’t ordered. They didn’t correct that but it was the final straw to a poor meal. Would never go back again. Especially at these prices you expect a great meal.

Pretty good restaurant. The service was great and the food was good. Not overpriced and the portions are good as well. I went on Sunday afternoon and enjoyed the 3 dollar mimosas.
