Their coffee tastes really good and I love the dcor inside their location by brookwood mall. It is a nice quiet caf if you are looking to have a coffee with few friends at a place other than Starbucks.
I just moved to the area a few weeks ago and have been going to O’Henry’s every single day. It’s really left me wondering: do they only hire ridiculously unfriendly people? I have really never seen anything like it. The employees do not smile or interact with customers at all. They just take your money and make your drink. There is the rare exception, but on the whole, all the employees are zombies. Yesterday, I ordered my regular iced latte. The barista repeated my order back to me and then proceeded to make it piping hot. I was the only person in line. When I gently reminded her that I ordered it iced, she did not apologize or say anything and proceeded to sulk back to remake it. I’m just not really sure what drugs the employees are on, but someone really needs to look into it. I don’t expect much- after all, humanity is not a lot to ask for. Show some life, people!

A consistent standard…. After being in Birmingham 15 years there is comfort in certain things remaining consistent and a standard, O’Henry’s Coffees definitely being one of those. The atmosphere is laid back and while a good place to grab a dessert and big cupper or a good place to study there are not any comfy couches or cushy chairs to stretch out in. This place serves some limited food offerings, but do not make this your lunch destination. With many good lunch places in walking distance you shouldn’t have to. Many other chains and coffee places have come and gone but this place has remained a landmark in downtown Homewood.
Great coffee..served by an indifferent staff. Really good coffee. Some of the best in town. However the staff (at least during my 2-3 visits), seemed indifferent. No smiles,etc. Just handed you your coffee, and took your money. Guys, it takes very little effort to be friendly,or at least smile. Really, it doesn’t. You have a great product, however. I’ll keep coming, if only for the coffee. That being said, for my part..no more generous tipping for unfriendly service.
Best ever. O’Henry’s is on a whole different level from other coffee houses I’ve been to. Amazing roasted beans for sale are a real treat. Wonderful atmosphere at the Homewood location and friendly staff make this THE place for coffee for me.
Great Little Coffee Shop. This is hands-down my favorite coffee shop in Birmingham. It’s a friendly atmosphere with wonderful coffee. The only downside is that it gets pretty crowded in the mornings and it can be hard to find seating. But it’s always worth the effort!
