Fun, Fresh Food, Friendly Folks!. I’ve eaten here or gotten takeout on several occasions. I was in a hurry to plan a romantic picnic for my husband’s birthday. I had little time and decided to stop by Ashley Mac’s. I got a great pink bag that they had in the restaurant and filled it with scrumptious chicken salad, broccoli salad, and mini strawberry pink cupcakes. My husband was pumped! We ate dinner there two weeks ago and the place was bustling! The good mood of the staff spread to the diners and everyone was having a good time. Good place for comfort food!
Overpriced and inconsistent. First I should say, the customer service is what stands out to me as the real value held in this small business chain, but even that is just a few girls who seem to work all over the place. I frequent the Cahaba and Valleydale stores and usually see the same smiling faces who have always been polite and helpful. So my review has nothing against them. The problem is that the food and overall quality of items I’ve purchased continues to disappoint, as it is inconsistent, especially with items like Chicken Salad, and even the dessert sizes. Some days the slices are puny, or if you get the carrot cake it can taste a little grainy. It seems to depend on who’s made it that day, and for the prices that are charged, it’s become an issue that’s just not worth it. With all of the cafes around the growing Birmingham restaurant area, this one does not stand out as a particularly worthwhile investment of time and money, especially with how loud and disorganized the cafe can be so much of the time. If you enjoy spending lots of money for a headache, this is the place for your group.
Strawberry Cake!!! UPDATE 05.10.14????. The best, also we get the forzen meals and they allways taste fresh and home made, try the beef enchlidas!!!WHAT HAS HAPPENED HERE THE PORTION SIZE HAS SHRUNK AND THE PRICE STAYED THE SAME. my wife and i used to be able to make a meal out of the 2 enchlidas, now they have shrunk down to almost half the size!!!!!Recevied a email from AM’s they are sorry they had to shrink the portion sizes due to increased costs.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!. Fabulous restaurant. Can’t remember the name of sandwich I had but it had cheese, spinach, great honey mustard & sliced apples drizzled with balsamic- you pick between turkey or ham, I chose turkey. One of the best sandwiches I’ve had at a gourmet deli/restaurant. Highly recommend trying this place. Also great service!!!
Great food great service. Fresh ingredients. I would go back. Try the apple havarti sandwich and the broccoli slaw.
Yum!. Came in for lunch this afternoon and am so glad I did. I will definitely be returning for the delicious food and amazing customer service! I would not normally be inclined to write a review but this experience was exceptional. The restaurant was spotless and smelled like fresh baked goods. Annie helped me and recommended the Trio salad with the sour cream biscuit- absolutely amazing, and the chicken salad was too. She also recommended a slice of coconut cake and I cleaned my plate. She was so helpful and made my experience great with her outstanding customer service. Her recommendations really hit the spot and I can’t wait to bring my mom by. I will DEFINITELY be back and am excited to try the strawberry cake on my next visit 🙂
I went to Ashley Mac’s for lunch today. I was excited to try as I am a huge fan of the strawberry cake but had never eaten at the cafe. The broccoli salad was delicious! The sugared almonds on top really made it great. I was expecting great things from the chicken salad, but unfortunately it wasn’t as good as I expected. The menu says that it includes grapes, and I did have a grape slice but it was just one which left me scratching my head. I also had some cartilage in my chicken, which anyone who has ever deboned a chicken knows how easily this happens. You just don’t expect it when you are paying $8.Even though my order was to go, service was excellent and staff was very friendly.
