SERVICE BAD. I have been to this restaurant several times. The food has always been good, but the service has continued to deteriorate. The last time I visited, there was only one woman waiting on tables, (which was sufficient at the time I was there) but once our food was delivered, she never checked on us again. When I tried to get her attention to come to my table, she looked directly at me with no response and walked to the cash register. I got up from my table and walked to her (I wanted more rice and a container for leftovers). She did not ask if I she could help me, or how our food was, or if we wanted another drink, but just stated an amount that I owed. I fear this establishment will not last with such poor service and lack of appreciation of its customers.
Recent Price Increase. I love their Pho, which is primary dish I order at Asian Cuisine. Recently, I went in to enjoy a Superbowl (largest bowl of Pho they serve) and was surprised it increased from $8.99 to $10.99, that’s a > 20% increase. At that price point (my opinion) they compete against restaurants like Stix, Olive Garden, Jim N Nicks, etc., which provide comparable food quality but offer better service. I will still go when I have a craving for Pho, but where I went twice a week before, I’ll go once a month now. =(17 Nov, 2014Great Pho, poor service! I have frequented this establishment quite a bit in the last two years (150+ visits). Normally I go by myself, but have taken guests on multiple occasions. I have tried other items on the menu (mediocre) but the Pho is outstanding! The service needs improvement if this restaurant is to be taken seriously. Many times the waitress that works Friday thru Sunday seems to have an attitude; she seems to be bothered if you ask for additional sauces with your take out order (asked sesame oil). Someone needs to inform her that a paying customer is entitled to order their meal as they seem fit and that her job is to procure the items purchased as this is the base function of a person who works in a service related industry. The Pho is the best in town; however, customer service needs to become a priority!
Great Pho. Bad service. Wonderful food for the price just like what the other poster says. However, just as the other Vietnamese student mentioned, the waiter that is more interested in watching TV on her cell phone is one of the worst ever. She really isn’t interested in being there at all. Really bad service. Service is an attitude and she just doesn’t have that attitude at all. I don’t think she’s the owner. If I could just tell the owner how bad she is… But the Pho can’t be beat at all in Birmingham. Big portions, fresh ingredients, tasty soup.
Good food, horrible serive. Probably the most best Vietnamese restaurant in Birmingham in terms of taste & price, at least for me since I’m Vietnamese. the price is fair for all the pho but many of the other food is a bit expensive but FAIRLY priced. I’m cheap since I’m a student. There is one waitress there…literally just 1 working at anytime you go.It’s not a problem since it’s not ever overly crowd. We’re typically 1 of 3 tables used. But there is one that is really really bad. She is more passionate gambling online than waiting anyone I think she works Tuesdays and Thursdays. The other waitress that I know works on Saturday is pretty good. The only reason I come back is b/c is it’s close to home and it’s fairly cheap for the pho. But if good service is your forte, just don’t go to a Vietnamese restaurant….you will rarely find one that has good service. Just go for the food and GTFO.
Very disappointing. We came for dinner. Portions are small for the price. Food is mediocre at best. No soap in the bathroom. Dishes and utensils are not clean.
It gets loud in there sometimes with I think perhaps family members? But the food is amazing.
This place is awesome! I eat here about three times a week, and they are closed on Mondays, meaning I come half of the time they are open. I live the pho, best pho in Birmingham. Tasty, generous portions, and great service.
