The wait was too long for so-so food. I felt rushed and the constant hovering for whatever reason (it’s not as if they refill water or DO anything besides whisk plates away the second you finish) was nerve-wracking. I won’t go back.
My hubby & I were on a quest for something different & we happened upon Chicken Salad Chick. Hubby had the Cajun Roast Beef Sandwich & fresh fruit salad. They even gave him a sample of the meat so he could taste test it, very good. I chose the Chicken Salad Trio with the Carol (traditional chicken salad) & Fancy Nancy ( Fuji apples & grapes in chicken salad) & Pimento Cheese with wheat crackers. All so delicious!I will be returning soon with my Red Hat ladies so they can experience this delightful place!
I don’t know that I’ve ever given a rating this low. I heard nothing but praise for Chicken Salad Chick prior to trying it. The Chicken Salad has NO taste and the prices are outrageous. Since I thought so lowly of the place I gave it two chances. On the first visit I had the Cranberry Kelly. On the second trip I tried the Classic Carol. Just to make sure I wasn’t crazy, I asked several others who recently tried the restaurant for the first time; they agreed with me: overpriced and little/no taste.
Come for the Variety. I’ll admit it, I’m a picky eater. Chicken salad for me can be iffy…I hate onions in my chicken salad, and can deal with pickles/relish in moderation, celery as well. What I love about Chicken Salad Chick is the variety, and they will let you try it before you buy it! I have tried several kinds but my go to is Kickin’ Kay Lynne (it’s not too spicy, it’s just right) and Sassy Scotty (reminds me of a chicken dip that I make). I’ve tried others, and not been disappointed. My husband rarely strays from the Classic Carol (kind of plain) and my daughter like Barbie-Q (eh-too smoky/bbqish for my taste). The broccoli salad is to die for.My only complaint would be the service. Not so much the people, because I swear these people are so perky and friendly that they could work at Starbucks. My issue is how long it takes to get your food. I mean, there isn’t anything to cook. How long does it take to scoop some chicken salad on to a plate with a couple of sides and a cookie? It should not take as long as it does. It just shouldn’t.
I love it. I love the chicken salad. The more mayo the better. If you don’t like mayo, stay out of there.I like having several choices . I think it is the best in town.
Don’t like it. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I was very disappointed. Went back again and felt the same way. Grape salad is fabulous. Chicken salad was not. Too many other places in town have much better chicken salad than this place. Good idea, just not a good product.
Loved this place in Auburn and I am glad to see it doing well in birmingham. Cute atmosphere with delicious good!
