Not sure if I’m doing this right but I tend to rate restaurants by how well they meet my expectations. Breakfast at Edgar’s this morning was exactly as I expected. It’s a very nice place with great food and coffee and everything appears to be fresh made
Consistently awful service, they seem to get a new manager every week. I was in a rush and got a sandwich out of the display case the cashier only had one guest to deal with before me, they couldn’t figure out how to apply the 3 for $5 cupcake specials after watching the 3 bone head employees trying to figure it out for 10 minutes I just put the sand which back and left. This used to be a decent store but the employees progressively get more dumb and rude… Save your time and money publixs has better food and pastries anyway.
Horrible customer service. I have ordered many Edgars cakes and they have always been delicious. However, I tried to order a cake over the phone for my daughter’s second birthday party, and the customer service representative was extremely rude. I changed my mind and decided not to order based on the poor customer service. Later that day I called back to speak to a manager about the incident, and the manger was just as rude. I tried to get contact information for the owners, such as an email address, and the manager refused to give me those details and instead launched into a dissertation on how their complaints are handled. I wonder if the owners are aware of the poor customer service at their bakery. After that telephone conversation, where the manager was just as rude as the sales person, I decided I would NEVER order another Edgars cake. There are plenty of local bakeries with good customer service that would be happy to have my business.
Lunch a little bland, chicken salad ToGo was good!. I love their bakery items and always get a strawberry cake for birthdays. We tried lunch there for the first time today and ordered the Curry Chicken Sandwich and my boyfriend got the Avocado Wrap. The Curry chicken sandwich had potential I think. I liked the curry spread, but the chicken was completely dry and with the multigrain bread added… the dryness was way too much. I ended up just eating one piece of bread with the tomato, bacon and lettuce, because they forgot to put the swiss cheese on there. I didn’t taste the avocado turkey wrap, but my boyfriend said it was pretty bland. We got some of the chicken salad ToGo and I would definitely go back to get some again. Had poppy seeds, dried cranberry and pecans. Just enough mayo!
Bad Breakfast. The help is trained well. The baked goods are great but don’t get the sausage and gravy biscuits. I have had the sausage and gravy biscuits for about 4 years now and it has degraded to a poorly made, barely warm mess that isn’t at all what it used to be. Over the last year I have been served two biscuits with gravy and 2 patties of sausage then it was 2 biscuits and gravy with 1 patty. Then it was 1 biscuit with 2 small patties and then it has changed to not even gravy, but a biscuit, 1 patty and goo with chunks. The decaf coffee was warmish cold because it is made and set out in a serving carafe and had been there for awhile. You have to do better than this guys. If you offer breakfast at these prices, then make something edible.
My husband and I are new to Birmingham area. We were looking for a bakery and stopped in at Edgar’s in I believe the Hoover area. While we were there I, of course looked at their selection and all through the store. We were in there a good 7-8 minutes. My husband stood by the counter waiting – waiting and waiting for service. There were other people in there. Some obviously regulars came in or people they knew and they got taken care of immediately ahead of everyone who had been standing there being ignored while the employees were chit-chatting joking around and ignoring the people standing there. We left without making a purchase. We probable will not return.
Ok, tried a new location as the employees at the Colonnade locale are so incredibly rude. Well, they say consistency is a good thing though probably not in the area of customer service. By the way, if you buy a cake and it’s the absolute pitts, don’t throw it away. Before they will do anything, they want to see the cake. So, even if it’s 3 weeks after your complaint, keep it! Place sux! Way better bakeries in the city. Just sayin…
