I cannot express how AMAZING this dining experience was today! Our server’s name was Rob, and he provided the best service of my foodie life! While I had previously been disappointed with the 280 location, I decided to drive all the way to Hoover today where I was introduced to and fell in love with the Fish Market. I am surely not disappointed. The food was fantastically fresh and cooked to perfection. We had a dozen raw oysters, sauted crab claws, grilled Mahi Mahi, and sides. The fried okra was ALMOST as good as straight from my aunts garden cooked immediately. I actually cleaned my plate (which is very unusual) and felt like this was money well spent. Rob made me feel like we were family, and he was incredibly attentive without being bothersome. He gave me such a relaxed, no rush kind of attentiveness that is a difficult balance to achieve. He is an invaluable addition to this restaurant staff. The atmosphere he provided was pleasant and inviting. He actually made my day..which is saying a lot as I am not easily impressed with service I receive at a restaurant. Thanks again, Rob! I will definitely be back!

Bad dining. I had guess from out of town, and I took them to the fish market on 31. After ordering our food it took over a hour before we got it, so when it finally came , everything was wrong the servers did not know who’s food went where.. I will never go back there, the next day I call and spoke with the manager and she said that she would send me a gift card which I never got..

Fried lobster tail for the win. Chargrilled oysters with spinach, feta, olive oil and garlic? Good.Coconut shrimp? Good (tho the dipping sauce was a tad too sweet for my taste)My friends’ entrees were ready before my friend lobster so they brought out a free bowl of gumbo for me to enjoy while I waited. Only trouble was, I don’t care for gumbo. They offered a free dessert instead but I opted for some John’s slaw. When the fried lobster tail came out it was worth the wait. It was much larger than I expected and the taste was phenomenal. Diner #1 got the salad with grilled scallops. It was good but he thought they could have put more scallops on it. Diner #2 got one of the fish dishes; can’t remember what it was but she ate it all up so it must have been good.Whatever issues this place had in the past have definitely been resolved. There’s definitely another fried lobster tail in my future.

Honestly the food was wonderful. I understand why you would be a little skeptical from the looks of this place. I admit that it looks a little crappy, but their cheese grits & salmon are really good, but I don’t know if the other fish taste as good as the salmon. The service was alright because we got a good waiter. This is probably my second time coming here. Don’t not come here from the looks of this place. Also they upgraded the interior so it’s a better atmosphere! My personal rating: 4/5

My family and I went here for dinner last Friday night. The food was good as always but the service a bit confusing. When we walked in we saw several families waiting but there was no one to greet us and no one at desk (where u can order and then go sit down instead of eating in full service area). Finally someone came up and ask if we were dining in and we replied yes and was told there would be a 15 to 20 minute wait. While waiting I had to direct three other families that came in where and who they needed to see for a table. After waiting around 15 minutes with no one being seated since we came in a couple came in and asked if they could order at desk and sit in the back dining area. The hostess (I use the term loosely here) said yes and started taking there order. This annoyed me because there where all these families that had been waiting some longer than us who I’m sure would have liked the opportunity to do the same. We got behind the couple to order and the hostess told me the kitchen had a hold on all orders and had just lifted it when this couple came in. Okay, I understand that the kitchen was backed up but after it was lifted the hostess should have went to the first people on the waiting list and ask if they would still like to wait for full service dining or order at counter and eat in back dining room which had plenty of tables to accommodate all that we’re waiting. If you are going to offer both ways then there should be a hostess at the door and someone at desk to take orders at all times. Don’t know that we’ll go back at night again.
