Ran into this restaurant in Hoover by accident and had lunch. Now it’s a regular stop when we are passing through that area. It’s fantastic! Prompt and friendly service and wonderful food at reasonable prices. For BBQ they do one thing and one thing only, pork shoulder, and they do it as well as I have ever had it. I live in middle Tennessee and never had pork shoulder this good. What is more they give you a choice chopped or sliced. Rarely see that. The meat is tender, moist but not too mushy. The perfect pulled pork sandwich! The sauce is wonderfulFor about $10 you can get a large sandwich, fries and a drink. A near perfect all around experience.
4.0 points for being inexpensive, a blast from my past, not being trendy, good location and good food. I currently live 6 hours north of B’ham in a BBQ desert and I miss real Southern BBQ. I used to wear out Golden Rule in high school and craved some good BBQ and nostalgia on my recent visit home. My mother and I went at lunchtime the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and it was very busy. We found a booth within minutes and were waited on immediately. What I love about places like this (BBQ joints) is that they haven’t caved to the foodie craze and gone trendy with BBQ! The atmosphere is modest and reminiscent of how many restaurants, especially BBQ ones, used to be. They’re real, simple, and straightforward and I like that. My mother had the bigger hamburger and fries and I had the pulled pork and fries. Her burger was huge and proclaimed to be very good. My BBQ was good and hit the spot. The sandwich was filling but not huge though. It was not the best I’ve had but it was good and a nice, quick, inexpensive lunch and a stroll down memory lane. I’d go back the next time I’m close by again.
Love this place. My husband and I go here every year on our way to TN. We order chopped bar b q pork plate with cole slaw and beans. Service is always excellent and the food is great. Always leave happy!
Loved it! Must order pie! The food and service are lightning fast and people are super friendly. Even offered us to go drinks when we were done.
Great Q!. Been eating here for years. Still the best pork barbecue around. They still cook on an open hickory pitt, not in a smoker. The menu is limited but what they serve is great- Burgers and Bar-B-Qs
Yum!!. Had the jumbo shredded BBQ sandwich (less than $6). Good fries and Danny liked his grilled cheese sandwich ($2). Always good service and good food. Old-style hole-in-the-wall bbq place.
