I love everything about this place’s food. I recommend the jerk chicken and oxtails. The sides are extremely good as well. The only downside is that the service could be better. I’ve bottomed out on my drink a few times because of the jerk chicken spiciness.
Delicious! I grew up in Miami, where we can get lots of authentic island food, and I moved here 4 yrs ago. (The things you do for love…) I have to say, I thought this food was on point! I loved this food! I can’t believe that there is a place to get sweet plantains right near me! A very clean Restaurant, cafe style tables & a nice looking Bar. Our 3 meals were delicious! I got the House Specialty, Jamaican Jerk Chicken, with Caribbean rice, cornbread & for my extra side I chose the fried sweet plantains, of course! There were 2 pieces of thigh, fall off the bone tender chicken. The skin was thin & crispy with a thick sweet dark Jerk sauce, more sweet than spicy, although it did have a hint of spice. The Caribbean rice was also delish! It was a dirty rice, meaning it was a white rice with a seasoned slurry of pinto beans & liquid added & mixed together. The little corn bread loaf was good, but may have been a boxed mix. And the fried sweet plantains… well, if you’ve never had them, I suggest you get them! You’ll never go back & you’ll always crave them! Yum!!! My hubs had the Soul Food Favorite, Pork Chops & Gravy Baby. They were cut thin and pan fried with sauted onions & a homemade light brown perfectly seasoned gravy. He also got the Caribbean rice (with the pinto beans in it). For his extra side, he got the fried okra, which looked like it was a pre-breaded version of fried okra, but was delicious, since we all kept stealing some from his bowl! He really enjoyed these chops! My son had the shrimp & grits, with extra cheese on the grits, please & hold the pepper, onion, spicy sausage sauce and put it in a bowl on the side, thank you. Great choice! The shrimp were few (4) but large & seasoned nicely. Another happy customer! The music was great and there were 4 big screen TV’s with the college games of the day playing! Unexpected and great! We will all be back & we’ll bring more family with us next time!
Great food – Southern Soul food meets the Caribbean. So far I’ve had the Shrimp and Grits, Jerk Chicken, Caribbean Rice, Collards, Sweet Potatoes – all great! The wait staff are friendly and efficient. You need to eat here!
