We gave Jim and Nick’s another chance. Our first visit a few years ago I ordered with White BBQ sauce and did not like it. This time I ordered the Carolina BBQ pork and liked it. My only complaint this time was they were busy, loud and the parking lot is small.
Their biscuit/bread is probably my favorite, but if you are watching your diet, stay away from it. Their food is good and the portions are filling. The location in hoover is convenient and we tend to visit this place mostly for our lunch meetings at work.
The ribs are really good when they are not overcooked. I don’t care for their original BBQ sauce. I prefer a sauce with a blend of spicy and sweet, so their habanero BBQ sauce is one of my favorites. If you’re looking for dessert, then I would recommend trying their lemon pie.
If you know anything about this place, it’s that you can’t eat here without eating the cheese biscuits. They are amazing. Light, fluffy and not overly cheesy. I always opt for the pig in the patch baked potato. Because if I love anything, it’s carbs and bbq. The service can be slowwww at times, but if you enjoy your table’s company then it its my too bad if you aren’t starving. The wait time can get ridiculous, but that’s all about demand.
Smoking and juicy, simply the best the midwest has to offer. The portions are generous and price is fair. Tried quite a few things on the menu from chicken to beef and pork and all plates were delicious. Def. Worth the food coma 🙂
Everyone loves Jim ‘n Nick’s cheddar biscuits (if eat a dozen if Given the opportunity). But my favorite dish here is actually their southern chopped salad. It has the perfect balance of flavors and textures. The pork is always so moist and smokey, the bacon crisp and salty, the pecans toasted to perfection and the balsamic vinaigrette is well seasoned. Jim ‘n Nicks is a great reliable bbq joint. I am not a huge fan of Tomato based bbq sauces but This one is pretty good. Their meat is almost always melt in your mouth delicious. Occasionally the beef brisket will be chewy and tough, but the pork and especially the chicken I’ve never had problems with.
Baked beans were old & dry. Pulled pork sandwich was ok, not great. Will not go back
