Awesome food. I always have loved Caribbean food and wanted to try this place as soon as I heard about it. While the choices were few for Chickenetarian like me, I loved the food as it was fresh and very flavorful!I was a bit disappointed that there was no Chicken Jerk option for lunch.Lunch prices are all-inclusive (Food,Drink,Tax). They have a return customer in me, however, I do hope they will maintain the quality.
Do not let the atmosphere scare you, the food is really good! The restaurant itself is really run down. All the booths seem to have tape on them and when we were there the air must not have been on because it was very warm. When it came time to order the lady that took our order apologized saying she was the only one there due to a family issue. If she isn’t normally the Cook she should be! The coconut shrimp and jerk chicken dishes were so good. My daughter really enjoyed the taco. I would recommend this place to anyone
Likes It!. We went for lunch last Saturday and really enjoyed it. The black beans, rice and sweet potato fries were great! My son really liked the island jerk burger but did say that it was a little too spicy for him. The queso dip was really flavorful too and would get that again. We plan on coming back soon.
Great lunch!!. We had the opportunity to try Mexibbean for lunch. Based on the previous reviews, we were very pleasantly surprised! There were four of us and we tried texican, Mexican, frajita and island tacos. They were all good. Favorite was the island fish taco. It had a lite sauce that pulled the favors together. It was so good I would probably request it on the chicken next time. Friendly atmosphere, reasonable wait time for food. Good job! We will be back!
Very dissatisfied. I had the fish tacos (Texican & Jerk style). They were edible, but not good. My wife had the Texican style chicken tacos, and they were disgusting. The meat was clearly pre cooked and reheated with some kind of seasoning. It was dry and she couldn’t eat it. The rice and beans were not good either. The rice was over cooked and mushy.
Island Style Mexican. For starters, this is a fun, island style atmosphere with great music and neat decorations. The chips and salsa were fantastic (especially the seasoning on the chips). The woman running the counter/taking orders/waiting tables/ doing everything outside the kitchen was extremely friendly and always seemed to be on top of things despite having so many jobs to do. I had the fish tacos which were fantastically tasty, and my wife had the Jerk Burger. The burger had a great spiced taste to it. We also ordered some of the jerk wings. The sauce on these wings was delicious, and the wings were crispy and flavorful, and had a little grilled taste to them too (while still being fried and crispy). The sweet potato fries that came with the jerk burger were very tasty and crispy, and the rice and beans that came with the tacos was better than most side dish rice and beans at other Mexican restaurants. This was an excellent find, and I look forward to coming back to try out some of the other menu items.
Disappointed. For starters the music was extremely loud, until someone finally turned it down. Seasoning added to chips was overkill, salsa was odd, taco’s were really odd !! Left and went somewhere else to eat. Hope others find it better tasting that we did.
