I believe I have Eaten here probably at least 100 times Probably more. I eat here at least once a week although I’ve been hitting the Homewood location as well. I lived in Atlanta for 15 years, there’s a great variety of all Asian cuisine including Chinese variations… Szechuan, Hunan, Mandarin. I became accustomed to good Asian food. Regardless of styleThe Chens are from Taiwan I believe. When I first moved back to Birmingham, I couldn’t find a good Chinese restaurant. The red pearl on Valley Ave was the most authentic but erratic in operation. Then Mr. Chens opened and I’ve Been going ever since. Particularly good here… crispy tofu with bean blend, spicy chicken, rice noodle dishes, pork with tofu and bamboo shoots, on and on. Like many Asian restaurants, very reasonable prices and really good service. Obviously, they have been successful with locations now in Montgomery, Tuscaloosa and three in Birmingham.Frankly there are a lot of very mediocre Chinese restaurants That stay in business somehow But this one is one of the bestNeedless to say from my frequent visits, I highly recommend this place.
I have eaten at at Mr. Chens three times now . The women that answers the phones /cashier seems to think I have a hearing disability I gather because she has yelled at me all three times in have been. I won’t be back the food was not believe average even for a Chinese restaurant , the place didn’t look clean, and I can stay at home and get yelled at without it costing me any money
Good food for a reasonable price. We’d eat here more often if they delivered. We would also love it if they offered brown rice as a healthier alternative to white or fried rice.
Simply good food. They have great soups and stews for cold days, or for colds, and great familiar recipes for the less adventurous, and unusual dishes for the more adventurous!
If you are looking for a place to eat authentic Chinese food, Mr Chen is the place for you. They serve really good food. I mostly go there for pick. You can call ahead and they are fairly quick to get the order ready. The chicken is my favorite but they offer a number of other choices.
While the food was average at best, the women that took my order was horrible. She was rude, loud, and became angry with me because she couldn’t understand my order. I’ll never return and share my experience witj as many people as i can
I went here relying on the reviews and I am so happy I did! The food was authentic and DELICIOUS!!!!! I brought my in laws here and this was the closest to them eating authentic chinese food!! I would certainly eat here again when I am in town!! <3 <3
