Terrible service, terrible food.Hostess was curt, didn’t get waters until bus boy realized we hadn’t been greeted (he was the only one doing a decent job.) Cheese dip was cold, guacamole and Pico De Gallo included on the app platter was about a teaspoon of each. Just plain awful. I don’t see how these brainwashed Americans keep returning.
This is my favorite Mexican spot in Birmingham. For your typical average priced Mexican food dinner, it is well beyond average. The ingredients and care in preparation for a $7 plate of tacos as well as the salsa were impressive. If I have to nitpick, I’ll say that the dining room and ambiance could use a little work. My experience with service has been wonderful. However, there seems to be a little bit of a grimy feeling sitting inside and outside your best view is of the other parts of the strip mall. That said, I’m hard pressed to go anywhere else for a taco fix.
Don’t come on a Thursday night or if the weather is pretty. Service is horrible! It takes an hour to get appetizers!! Terrible service!! And the plates don’t look like they are supposed to!
Not worth it. The two of us went to Pablos Restaurant on a Friday night with myself and one other dining. When we arrived we were quickly sat at a clean table near the entrance where we had live music playing. The musician, while very talented, was also very loud and it made it difficult to carry on a conversation and enjoy the meal. The server took our drink order and fairly quickly returned with our drinks. Looking at the menu at this restaurant the prices seemed slightly higher in price than a typical Mexican restaurant. though it was not ridiculous. After we decided on our order, we waited for a very long period of time for our server to come back (with a refill on my drink) to take our order. We gave her our order and we waited . . . and waited . . . and waited . . . and waited . . . During our wait I went through three refills on my sweet tea and one basket of chips. By the time the food arrived, I was really not hungry anymore from all of the sweet tea and chips. The food itself in my opinion was mediocre at best. There was not any great seasoning and I have gotten better Mexican at half the price elsewhere. The last confusing item was that of the check. The server brought us our ticket in a folder that you would see at a restaurant and it took me awhile to realize that you took your ticket to the cashier at the front. Additionally when you are checking out, the speaker for the band that is playing is right by the register so forget being able to communicate with the cashier if there is a problem. I will not be coming back anytime soon.
Awful experience. The last time I ate at Pablo’s was about 6 months ago. The service then was terrible. Took entirely too long. Since the weather for end of July had cooled off tried it again with neighbors. TERRIBLE. We waited almost an hour and half for food. We then had to go inside to find waiter for our check. WAY UNDER STAFFED!!!!! If your going to go to the expense to have live music on the deck, please hire enough people to handle the crowd.
No way, Jos, Juan, or Jesus!. To start, the hostess was about as helpful as a Federal worker. Pablo’s was obviously understaffed for the busy Friday evening ahead of them. The food served was as cold as a corpse and the service was death warmed over. The only thing hot about this evening was the Alabama weather. Everyone get out your Sharpies and join my family in marking Pablo’s off of your list. Save your money and go to Taco Bell. Cheaper, faster and better than Pablo’s.
The food was horrible and cold. It had no taste at all. Not going back.
