  Food was tasty- not crave-worthy, but ok. Salsa is bland. Staff is friendly, helpful, and competent. Very clean restaurant. Good for family, business lunch, or dinner date.

  LOVE IT. El Monte is our local Mexican place, and it’s absolutely great. Between my wife and I, I’m pretty sure we’ve tried 90% of the menu and haven’t found anything that wasn’t awesome. Great food, great service, great prices. Their margaritas are good too. We’ve been a ton of times and have never had a bad experience with service or anything at all

  El Monte is the worst Mexican restaurant I’ve ever eaten at! The service is horrible, the food is horrible, the atmosphere is horrible! My husband and I went back in September for the first time. We went on a Thursday evening. We saw a banner outside that said trivia night on Tuesday. When we were seated by the hostess she did not mention that trivia night (on Thursday not Tuesday like the banner said) would be starting in less than 20min. We would not have stayed if would would have known. We sat at our table for 15min waiting for someone to come take our order. Finally our waiter came (same guy that had walked past our table multiple times while we were waiting). He took our order. I ordered the chicken taco salad inside of the tortilla bowl. My husband order the chicken chimichanga. About 5min after we ordered, the trivia night started with no warning. It was extremely loud, no way to enjoy a nice dinner with your loved one. We couldn’t even hear each other because of how loud it was. We didn’t want to just up and leave bc we just ordered our food and we were starving. (We should have left). Finally 15min later our food arrived. HORRIBLE. My chicken taco salad was tasteless and watery. It seemed like all they did was throw some lettuce and guacamole in a the tortilla bowl then opened up some canned chicken and threw it in there. The bowl was soggy and the chicken had absolutely no flavor. My husbands chimichanga barley had any chicken in it and his too was flavorless and soggy. We waited around for an extra 15 min to tell our waiter that our food was bad.. He never came back to out table. The entire 45min we were there the waiter came to our table ONCE and that was to take our order. We got tired of waiting so we took our plates up to the counter that you pay your bill at. We told her that our food was horrible and our waiter had not checked on us at all. She gave our plates to a random waiter to take back. I told her I didn’t think we should pay because we didn’t eat more that two bites each off of our plates. She said we had to pay because we ate off of them but that she would discount the prices. She took only $2 off each entree price. I was ticked off to say the least. I would not have paid but being the good person my husband is, he paid. (He doesn’t like confrontation or causing a scene). This has to be the worst dining experience. We will never eat there again and warn all of our family and friends not to.

  El Monte. Food was very good, service is ok, prices were reasonable. I went on valentines day so it was very crowded (as expected). Will return.

  Real Mexican Food on Kids Menu. I am 13 and I find the regular meals to be too large, so I order off the kids menu. At all other Mexican restaurants, I have to order off the normal menu because they think a hot dog in a tortilla shell is called mexican food. I don’t think that. They have great options on the whole meun and a very wide variety of mexican foods. Just on the kids menu, they have about 10 different choices. Their dessert menu is also great. they have excellent fried ice cream for only a couple bucks. It’s huge. I strongly reccomend this restaurant.
