Breakfast is worth the wait. Growing up, we ate Gibson’s BBQ which as I’ve gotten older have moved away from. It’s not BAD, it’s just not all that GOOD. However, their saving grace is their breakfast. Every time I stop by, their homemade hot and delicious biscuits get me every time. The staff (front, back, servers, bus, etc) is always super nice and treats you like a southerner should. BBQ isn’t as good as others in the area but their breakfast can’t be beat =)
The pies taste like ass. Not good barbecue. Nice family atmosphere and sweet old ladies, but that’s all. I ordered chocolate pie for dessert, I could only stomach one bite. It was the worst taste ever. I hope they got someone new to bake the pies or a new vendor bc I told the staff they needed to fire whoever made what I ate. I recommend the real big bob gibsons in Decatur…. Wish huntsville had a full moon barbecue!
Don’t Be Confused. This is not good barbecue. It’s not terrible, it’s not bad, it’s just not good. The meat is flavorless. The side dishes have no thought or care behind them. Imagine barbecue served at a nursing home and you’ll be close to what you’ll get here. Competent execution but that’s it. Breakfast may be great here but it’s little more than what you’d find at a mom and pop diner in the rural south 30 to 40 years ago-We’re here and no else is, so where else are you going to eat. Mercifully, there are choices, better choices in and near Huntsville.
Great service, great food. I love going to Gibsons. Breakfast is tasty. Adore the stuffed potatoes for lunch or supper. Barbecue is always good. Cant brag on the service enough. Always prompt and friendly. Great place to go alone or with a group.
Bland meat that was dry and needed sauce to be edible. Much better bbq elsewhere. Will not return.
Substandard BBQ. We ate here for dinner for the 1st time. The pulled pork and turkey was substandard and needed sauce for taste. Both of their sauces were good (sweet BBQ and a spicy vinegar-based sauce).The ribs were decent – they already had sauce on them.The sides were not good at all – we tried the corn (tastes like corn out of can), and BBQ baked beans (not good at all).We also tried the coconut pie afterwards for desert after reading a review in the paper they posted on the wall. It was decent, with a tall merengue on top, but it was just so-so.We won’t be going back.
The biscuits in the mornings are the best breakfast around.
