This buffet is purely american. The best thing about this buffet is the beef tastes awesome. Although the buffet is a little bit expensive. The ambience is really nice here.

Go somewhere else……anywhere else.. This dining experience costs roughly as much for two people as it would for your typical Logans, OCharlies or Chilies menu items. All of which are in very close proximity. The added spice of bad service and a poorly managed restaurant does reach some level of entertainment while you try to decide which food item wins mediocre prize of the evening. It is a big facility that has an uncomfortable design flow, especially when the capacity levels go up. The perceived high number of employees not doing anything seems to add to this problem. One of the staples of the Southern Style Buffet is the abundance of fried chicken. On a high volume night one person could be designated responsible for ensuring its availability and be busy cooking during the entire service. This establishment ran out of chicken twice in 15 minutes. While customers waited for over 10 minutes they got a side show of 4 or 5 employees standing around talking with nothing better to do, however; there would be a random action sequence of one individual wiping down the counter at various points before resuming the conversation. I guess chicken cooker helper or chicken availability engineer isn’t a valid Golden Corral job description. Another employee was walking around in back with a cell phone in his ear; he seemed to be enjoying the fact that he didnt have chicken detail for the evening…….or maybe he did. The only thing that everyone in the staff seemed to agree on is that making the chicken wasnt their job. Our server seemed to be an angry individual, probably couldnt figure out why no one was tipping her. She decided to use a tray to collect dirty plates from several tables. When she got to our table, she obligingly set the crusty stack next to me as she collected the dinnerware that we were through with. Fortunately, I (we) had recently decided not to get any more food. I cant tell if the staff is improperly trained or they just dont give a s&#t. This reviewer will tell you that anywhere is better……go to McDonalds……and telling people to go to McDonalds is not something I joke about.

Trough feeding at it’s finest. First let me say that when we lived in Texas we ate occasionally at the Golden Corral near us. It was always amazing. Fresh food, nice staff, all good. We had hoped for the same experience at this new GC in Huntsville.SIgh…… Let’s proceed.Firstly, you cannot even turn into the parking area legally if you are coming down University from the West. You have to find a place to make a U-turn in the lot for a car dealership or motel and then wait to turn right back onto University, drive back up the street and then turn in. Once in, the circling begins. May I suggest you carpool if you are going with friends? Not enough parking unless you finally give up and just start stalking people as they come out and are cutthroat about getting their spot. Once inside the cattle maze it does move fairly fast. You get your drink and then pay. I can see that being a real problem as they were super busy and ran out of cups, leaving the whole line to wait while the lady went to get more. She was very very nice though and we soon had our drinks and paid. Then we stood in the middle of the feeding area waiting for a table. The manager and several others were working super fast to get patrons to a table and again, they were so very nice and we did not wait very long.We got our plates and the first three or four I got had grit and food on them. Found out at the end of our meal when we were chatting with our server that the dishwasher has been down for days and they think they got it working today. I felt a little sick but it was too late as we had already eaten.Onto the food…. It is all spread but roughly organized into categories (Mexican, pizza, home cooking, etc). We started at the meat carving area. No meat available to carve. No ham, no turkey, no roast beef. They were out until some more came out from the kitchen. There were some dried out bbq and hamburger sliders and my husband got some sausages that he said were very good. We skipped the Mexican and Italian areas because none of it looked fresh or even appetizing. I saw some yellow squash and it looked delicious. It had onions and seasoning in it and I was excited to try it….until I tried it. NO salt at all and it tasted like cleaning fluid. I had to spit it out. The roasted chicken was good, once I located a piece that people had not picked the skin off. They were using the tongs to remove the skin off all the chicken pieces and leaving the chicken. Nasty people. Corn pudding was undercooked and gritty so I didn’t eat that either. Pot roast would have been good if it had any roast but that was gone as well. They did put more out and I went back to try it and the meat was tender and very good but the potatoes were still raw. The greens were pretty good but I just had to skip the rest of the veggies when I saw the employees putting new trays out and before they put them on the bar, they just poured all the grease and water into the floor right there on the other side of the bar. Is that common? Do other restaurants just pour the cooking liquids into the floor? I think OSHA would have a field day with that one. Butter and corn all in the floor drain and the floor all slick…..hmmmmm, not very safe. But I digress….. The last item I got was the seafood salad. I had always enjoyed that at the other GCs we had been too. DO NOT GET IT HERE!!!! Got to the table and found that whoever made it used hot white onions and did not rinse them so the whole dish tasted of hot onions. But more importantly, the seafood salad was WARM. Helllllllloooooo????? Food poisoning anyone? I was so disappointed by this point that I did not even want dessert. It was just too much. And unless you really like cookies, there was not a lot to choose from on the dessert bar. They have the chocolate fountain but I don’t want Christmas cookies or marshmallows for dessert, even if they are dipped in chocolate. Also two kids had their hands in the chocolate and were licking it off their hands before they went back for more so we passed by that quickly. My kids got soft serve and my husband ate a piece of chocolate cake that was actually very good (I snuck a bite) and a piece of carrot cake (also good but very rich). The staff were very very very nice and were working so hard. But I think this place needs to do some quality control and slow down. I know they are trying to feed a ton of people but at some point, quality is STILL more important than quantity.

Absolutely rediculous. Food, mediocre at best. Imagine waiting in the longest line only to ride the suckiest ride in the park. Restaurant seats over 400 with only enough parking for 100. If you like fighting for a spot with 20 other cars circling the lot then be my guest. Your sub par food, sub par service, chocolate fountain or not isnt worth the hassle of trying to get in the door. Have a limited lunch break? Go somewhere else. #badplanning #willfailsoon # yousuck

Scratch kitchen. I never knew that this concept makes the bulk of their food from scratch! They even employ their own meat cutters, so everything is super fresh. Being brand new in Huntsville, they are incredibly busy, but the lines move pretty quick. I don’t know how they do it, but they were keeping the food pans full! The staff is really friendly and the management team is high energy and very caring.
