I absolutely love everything about this restaurant. The decor, the staff and the food combine to create a charming German cuisine experience. I recommend the cucumber salad, the cheese plate, and any entree with the warm potato salad. Fantastic!
Cool Bavarian decor unmarred by strip mall setting. Hearty portions of schnitzel & sausage in many forms. Nice German beer list but not overwhelming. Fried potatoes & house-made salad dressings also well above par. Skip the potato dumplings.NOTE: arrive early or late on weekend evenings. Not only is this restaurant very busy, but it’s located in a center w/ several others. Parking is a challenge.
My wife and I have enjoyed Ol Heidleberg for many years. We lived in Germany, and find the food here authentic! Dining here has always been a pleasant experience.
Old Huntsville Magazine, Publisher. I have been enjoying dinners at the Old Heidelberg Restaurant for probably 20 years now. The food never disappoints. The schnitzel’s are heavenly – fried to just the right crispiness in a seasoned breading. No one can beat the warm German potato salad with tons of bacon & spices. The service is excellent and the restaurant is always crowded with regulars & visitors. One of my favorite places to eat in this area.
Jaeger Schnitzel. A dish truly worthy of a hunter (or survey corps member). Delicious and covered in mushrooms and sauce.
Not worth it. Slow service. Way overpriced for what you get.
Solid service and authentic/excellent food, BUT…you don’t get a lot for your money.
