Wanted to give this place a try since it WON The Taste of Huntsvile. It is in the Westin at Bridge Street, so all the other diners (few) seemed to be business travelers. We were there in the winter–the restaurant is open and across from a wall of huge windows. It was freezing! Overheard some business men mention the cold temperature to the staff and they said it is always like that… It seemed that only a bartender and a waitress were working, but the crowd was light and the service was friendly and attentive. I started with a caprese salad. Fried eggplant was layered in and drizzled with balsamic–delicious! I ordered a ribeye, medium-rare, with mushroom risotto as my entree. When the ribeye came to the table i could see immediately that it was overdone. The edges were curling up it was so overcooked. The risotto was full of mushrooms and had a wonderful flavorful, but was on the crunchy side. My husband ordered scallops and shrimp with pasta, which again was overcooked. We did let the server know, but as a rule: WE DO NOT SEND FOOD BACK!!! I worked in the hospitality industry/heard too many stories! Our server was apologetic and offered to have a new entree prepared, but ended up taking a percentage off my entree… We did e-mail them after; wanted to let them know the service and menu are great, but what is coming out of the kitchen was below par. Got an odd reply from the manager–having nothing to do with our original e-mail. FOOD: They have got the tools in their box, just don’t know how to use them. SERVICE: Friendly and attentive–if only the food was as good! Won’t go back.
