Most of the menu is average but a few items are really good and they have some stuff you won’t find else where in town.Unlike some of the other reviews my service has been good.
Service is usually slow but the food is excellent. I recommend the chicken and rice with extra cheese sauce.
My Mom grew up in LA & is an afficionado of Mexican food from Alvera St there, so I’d like to think I know a LITTLE bit about decent Mexican food. This place has THE BEST green chilie chicken enchiladas I’ve had in a while. This place ain’t the BEST EVER, but its pretty darned good.
Filipino Food Anyone?. Only once, never again. It was 85 degrees outside, they were not busy, they had little to customers, but they sat us outside. The waiter never refilled our glasses and seemingly forgot about us, our food was warm but… I’ve never eaten Latin food that tasted like Filipino food before. The tomato sauce tasted like pork peas pimento. For those of you who don’t know what that is… it’s oily, has pork, peas and harsh spices. I was eating a chimichanga. There was a very big difference in what I expected.
Typical bland garbage Mexican food. Ordered a combo dinner and my plate was essentially a whirlwind of poorly seasoned ground beef, unidentifiable shreeded white cheese and lettuce on top of corn tortilla things. I ordered a taco and enchilada… People in Madison just *love* these sort of cheap crappy Mexican restaurants, but they don’t hold a candle to locals like Rosies or Phil Sandivals. On the upside, the servers are attentive and the decor is bright.
Not Very Good. I have gone to Casa Blanca on Browns Ferry because my son likes it and it is convenient. However, I found the food to have an odd taste (Fahitas, etc) and the help seems to have a very negative and hateful attitude. The service, in my opinion, is terrible due to the attitude of the servers. They act as if they are doing you a favor. There are many better Mexican restaurants than this one. Check out Bridge Street for an example. Don’t waste your time on this one.
Always a great meal. Many dishes you won’t find at other mexican restaurants. The staff are always attentive and friendly. We eat there all the time.
