For those that live in the Madison Alabama area, Uncle Maddio’s Pizza is based on the same business model and principles as Pizza 120 that closed a few months ago. The pizza is flashed cooked which has a definite burnt taste to it. They offered several options with regards to the crust, sadly ours ended up tasting like cardboard. While the dcor is pleasant, the atmosphere felt very small, confining and incredibly loud. Not a place you want to take your special lady for an in-depth, intellectual conversation. The pizzeria does offer adult beverages which just seemed to add to the chaos around the cash registers. During our visit the store had 15 or 20 employees behind the prep counter and we still had to wait an unusually long period of time to just get the first half of our order. Managers were on site during our visit but were more focused on damage control than the experience of their patrons. All in all we were not impressed. We’ll stick with Pie in the Sky, Mellon Mushroom, Village and Joe’s Pizza in Athens.
