Great seafood and BBQ. What a great find! I still contend that the best BBQ I’ve ever had was in Wichita, Kansas I think Dick Russell’s does a really terrific job too. The portions are huge, the service is friendly, and the food is really, really great!
We took the car to mobile to have it worked on and we had to get the car there before 8 am, so as we were talking to the staff, we decided to ask were we should go for breakfast after we left and we were told that we could not go wrong if we went to Dick Russell’s BBQ and we cocked our heads at him and must have looked at him like he was seriously stupid, and he said……it is not all BBQ, they serve a real breakfast, and he has never had a customer come back and say anything other than it was fantastic, so we decided to bite.The place is fashioned like a barn on the inside but it works and is cute, I suppose. There is no hostess when you walk in and now real place to stand either, you are really standing against the diners and their tables and chairs as you wait for the head server (I guess) to tell you when you can sit.I ordered a creole omelette and my wife ordered a breakfast sandwich. Mine was ok, I did not really like the creole sauce that much and it was covered in it. The grits were well……just grits, and the hashbrowns were thick cut which makes them pretty difficult to make crispy and they weren’t.I do have to say one thing about their biscuits, and that would be that they are fantastic!!!!! They may be the very best that I have ever tasted, and I grew up in the south, I know biscuits. Do not ever take your grandma here, she will develop a deep dark depression after she is forced to realize that her’s are not the best biscuits in the world, and she will have to lay her rolling pin down at Dick’s feet in defeat. You would not want to do that to your grandma, would ya? So eat all the biscuits you want and leave grandma at home.Oh, almost forgot to mention my wives breakfast sandwich. It was really good, we both loved it (she gave me two bites), and she totally out ordered me again.
Best place for breakfast or brunch in Mobile, and the best steaks around too! We love coming here and we always have a great time. The seafood platter is also worth the money! If you crave a huge pile of local seafood, then get the platter!! Everything is worth the price and I feel that they really have reasonable prices for what you get. We always need to go boxes!
Breakfast was good. The service is terrible. The servers are busy doing what ever and your needs are not theirs. Regrettably I love the place but I will discourage others of going there until the service gets better.
Amazing!. What a wonderful meal we enjoyed tonight! We shared the super sampler, and it was SUPER!!! Meat so tender it melts in your mouth! The smoky flavor was so amazing! Came with chivjen, pork, beef and ribs! Yum!! Delicious BBQ beans and okra! Fried pickles to die for! The gumbo was perfect and so filling! It was all so great my mouth is still watering!
Awesome biscuits!!!. Went here for breakfast – wish I had just gotten a basket of biscuits! The best ever. Hashbrowns were limp and not crunchy – they were really large chunks of potato. Go for the biscuits!!!!
Get it right if you want folks to come back….. Just drove 16 miles to pick up a carry out. Got home and for the 2nd time in two weeks, they left out both of my sides. Shame on me for not checking, The food is great but was terribly disappointed in the whole meal. as a result… It was not what I ordered or paid for.
