Stay Away from this Cafe. This lunch spot has been in Springhill for a long time. I remember eating there years ago and met my wife on a beautiful afternoon. We were able to find a seat right away and our server was pleasant, if overworked. The menu was standard sandwich fare and we were expecting as much. Prices were high, but in this neighborhood, we expected that as well. What we didn’t expect was bland food and crazy charges. My turkey sandwich on sourdough was without taste. I didn’t expect ta fantastic sandwich, but at $8, I thought it would at least be slightly better than the sandwiches my dad put in my lunch as a kid. They charge $1.75 for a can, yes a can, of Dr. Pepper. How about a nearly $3 upcharge for a fruit cup as side? Yes, the small dish of honey dew and pineapple that could have come from a package in the grocery store next door cost $3 more than their standard sides.I understand this is a lunch stop for the upper class in Mobile, what I don’t understand is why anyone would settle for this.
Disappointing!. On the advice of an acquaintance, we tried the Chat A Way Cafe for a Friday lunch. I ordered the chicken salad on Sourdough bread but when the order arrived the bread tasted like plain white bread. I sent that order back and switched to the crab bisque. The bisque tasted like someone had accidentally put way too much salt in it almost to the point of being inedible. I did not want to make a fuss so I ate a little. My friends and I also wanted to try some of their desserts as we heard they were very good. Cheesecake? Sorry we are out, Chocolate cookies? Sorry we are out, Brownies? Not sure if we are out! I paid my bill, gave a tip and wrote a note on the back of my receipt about my experience. Next thing I know the owner is stopping us at the door as we were leaving holding the store bought bag of Earth Grains bread to show me that it does say sourdough on the package (I have eaten sourdough bread all my life and I’m pretty sure I know GOOD AUTHENTIC sourdough bread when I taste it). We also told her the soup was way too salty and she admitted it was too salty when first made but tried to fix it. Really, you knew that before it was served? If you like salty food ie… the soup and pasta salad, then this place is for you. Our group? We left and went down the street to Pollman’s bakery. Overpriced, small portions and poor customer service … We won’t be back
THE Best Lobster Bisque Ever. Wonderful Lobster Bisque and Quiche is a rare find
My friends and I use to eat here all the time when we live in the area! Love the food, wish they had better hours! Try the shrimp salad!
Cute but Overpriced. Sandwiches, Salads, Soups, Quiche, and Pies. Nice variety and a cute place to have lunch. A bit overpriced though.
Food is ok… But very overpriced:( this is a very cute place though.
Quaint & Sweet!. This place is perfect for a quick bite. Their quiche is delicious!
