Have dined here only twice, but both times food was great and service was above average. It was so packed one night that the manager went to check the bar and found us two seats. I figured, ok who needs a table, right. I gave the bar seating a try seeing how there was a 45 min. wait for tables. The bar was great service was prompt. Stuffed flounder awesome, Grilled oysters Orleans impeccable. One of Mobiles top three best seafood restaurants.
I had oysters on the half shell. Very very fresh. I love to put tabasco on the and eat them with saltines. The side items are really good. fried items lacking a little flavor. The grilled fish was devine though.
I went to this lovely place by myself during a business trip. I ordered half a dozen raw oysters, grilled fish with grits and broccoli, a glass of Riesling, and finished with the banana cheesecake. Let’s just say everything was fantastic and I would not hesitate to come back. The oysters were fresh and the fish was grilled to perfection. The cheesecake was delicious and not overly sweet. On top of that, the service I received was beyond my expectations. The servers were professional, attentive and polite. I was very impressed and I can’t wait to come back.
At first glance, unassuming restaurant in a strip mall, but SO NOT.First clue this would be great! Parking, not any close empty spaces at 7PM on a WED Night!Upon entry noted the nice dcor of warm wood and modern metal, instantly the senses were treated with wafts of delicious smells coming from the in bar grill with multiple oysters being grilled and a packed house of casual and well-dressed clientele having a great time , nice. I was cheerfully greeted in seconds by awesome hostess. I am trapped in Mobile on business and my order was to go.Off to the bar to pick it up, waited on instantly again, looking around I did not want to leave. Wow this is an awesome place!Now on to my food, The Seafood Pot Pie, Crab, Shrimp, Crawfish, Carrots, Corn, Peas, in sauce and a Buttermilk crust. Large portion and absolutely on point and delicious!I am in Mobile for an extended period and on an expense account, I am going back to Half Shell to eat and mingle!Awesome place, Awesome People, Awesome Food!
Every time I visit Half Shell, I am impressed! Best snapper I’ve ever had! As usual, crab cakes were top notch, oysters were perfect, and service was great!
I’ll be back. This is my second time being here and I left once again as a happy camper. I had the oyster sampler along with a side salad and a bowl of gumbo. This place has the best oysters around. Better than the oyster house and wintzell’s in my opinion. I will defiantly be returning. The only thing that I would suggest is for the server to bring out the side salad prior to receiving my food
Disappointing. My husband and I had dinner here last night. The Crab and Lobster Dip we ordered as an appetizer was pretty good. As for my entree, the Blacken Grouper, it was terrible! Not sure what type of fish I was served. . . definitely not grouper, MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT!! The fish had such a fishy taste, I couldn’t eat it. Overpriced and not worth wasting your time or money, we will not be going back!!
