I got the Catfish plate and was very disappointed. What I got was one piece of catfish, 3 cold hush puppies, and a whole butt load of luke warm french fries for $12.89 and a single can of coke that they charged me $2.35 for and I had to wait for 30 minutes or more before I even got my food.Mobile’s oldest restaurant is usually good on the hot dogs, but as for the fish I am not a fan.
I have ALWAYS enjoyed Dew Drop but the last time I ate here I was almost 8 months pregnant and ordered a to go order of onion rings and a fried shrimp poboy. Both were undercooked and aweful and I could not eat it and after tasting it my appetite was gone. I was very disappointed and am not sure I want to go back
There’s a reason the Dew Drop has been around for so many years. I’d been coming here with my grandparents for the past 35 years. Menu is pretty simple but good. Great place for a quick PoBoy for lunch. Always busy at lunch.
Love this place! Old school hamburgers with chili and hot dogs as well. They are awesome and the fries and onion rings are off the chain! Every time I am around this area, I make sure I try to hit this place up! Service is pretty good and food served promptly. Best to arrive after 1 PM to miss the packed house for lunch.
Do!. Dew Drop Inn is a Mobile institution. They supposedly served the first hot dogs in the region. They also call themselves Mobiles oldest restaurant. We had to try to the hot dog, but several other items on the menu appealed. The gumbo was good, but not great. The oyster loaf is served on a hot dog bun with ketchup and pickles. We asked for it to dressed with lettuce and tomato like a po boy but they messed up and we got the ketchup and pickles which we didnt care for.Now to the hot dog. It was great. Each component was delicious. The sauerkraut had a wonderful tang, the chili had a good richness and the wiener itself (a disconcertingly bright red color) was so tasty.Dessert selection was uninspiring. There are other items on the menu. But when I go back to, Ill be getting the hot dog.
If you like good ole American hangover food, well you’ve found your aftermorning (or midday) restaurant. Try the dew drop hotdog strait with onion rings.
$30.00 FOR LUNCH????????. I’ve been visiting this restaurant for over 20 years. Sometimes they have a good daily special other times not. My roommate and I went there last week to have lunch, we order two specials with our drinks the total was 28 dollars and some odd sense. This will be my last visit to the Dew Drop Inn. Lunch should not cost $30 in a dive. Could not get the waitress to bring me the check. She was too interested in talking to her associates. My salad was wilted and had mystery things in it.
