Go Back in Time for a Great Experience. This is a fun little shop. The left side of the store is like an old time soda jerk counter. The right side has all kinds of candies. The back of the shop where they make the candy is visible from the showroom floor. I tried the 1/4 mix. I enjoyed everyone one them. The chocolate is very good.
Beautiful, fresh chocolates and candy. I normally am not a fan of chocolate shops but this is a clean, charming shop with really nice people and lots of freshly made, delicious options for a little treat.
Good Candy. My fiance and I decided to take a short trip to Mobile to tackle more restaurants on the 100 Dishes to Eat Before You Die in Alabama list (see my guide), and this is one of the places that we scratched off. The store is very cute, and does take you back to days when soda shops still existed and is very well done. The candy is quite good, but the staff and owner make the experience quite a bit better, and were so nice and friendly that we found ourselves in a conversation about what we were doing, an where we had been so far. This is a great stop for anyone with a sweet tooth or just in need of some friendly faces and good conversation, living in the south still has its advantages! -B-
Great soda fountain, huge fountain creations, yummy candies.
It’s definitely just a candy shop. We saw lunch advertised and took a chance, thinking it might be a throwback to the classic soda fountain experience. Nope. Drinks in a can and minimal table service. My roast beef sandwich was decent. Salty and loaded with mayo which was not stated as an ingredient on the sparse menu. My husband got the worst of it with a sad muffaletta which had ice cold meat yet melted cheese and gumbo that was served fresh out of the MICROWAVE! Yikes! For all other purposes, it was a charming candy shop. Just dont eat lunch there!
Not consistent. This location is very cute and old timey, but a lot of the time when I go in there the candy does not taste fresh. It will either be too hard, or the chocolate looks funny. For the very high prices you pay there I would expect a lot more for your money. Also, they hardly ever have the items on their food menu. I stopped going here for lunches long ago. That being said…when they are fresh, their turtles are the best I’ve ever had. I guess you just need to catch them at the right time.
Nostalgic. This place takes you back to a different place and time. Life seems so simple when you’re in there. A very historic place to visit.Their chocolate milkshakes are good!
