Charming Italian Bistro. Located on Old Shell Rd across from The Mitchell Center of The University of South Alabama. If your traveling from the east on Old Shell Rd, you’ll pass the restaurant and make a u-turn at the next traffic light, as Old Shell Rd is divided by a median. Parking a small and a little challenging, so be aware, of other cars in the lot.Small dining area, you are greeted by the staff as you walk in, the menu is on the chalk board, consisting of soup, salad, apps, entree, and dessert. The wine menus has a nice listings of reds, sparkling, and whites, to about likings by the glass and bottle.The chalk board menu has a variety of veggie, chicken, meat, entrees. I started with the apple pecan salad, the greens fresh, nice texture of pecan, and apple topped with feta cheese, the dressing slightly sweet did I not overwhelm the salad.My entree the Veal Piccata, was tender, paired with sauted onion and tomato, along with zucchini, and asparagus. The zucchini was a little salty, the Asparagus was crisp and tender. All sat on a bed of al dente linguini.Let’s not forget the Rosemary focaccia bread, fresh and warm from the oven, with slightly herbed olive oil dip.Dessert, the traditional espresso soaked lady fingers taramasu, went well with a decaf coffee.
Best restaurant in town. The food was amazing and so was the service. Our server, Ian was FANTASTIC! He was polite and very attentive. I would recommend this place to any one looking for an authentic Italian restaurant or a restaurant in general. I’ll definitely be back
Best Steak. Via’s has the best Filet in Mobile! We eat at only local eatery’s and Via’s is THE best Filet Mobile….
This place is very good and authentic. I have only dined here twice but will return soon. The pasta is wonderful with all the flavors and seasonings. You don’t have to use salt and pepper because it is seasoned perfectly. It’s nice to get good Italian food in mobile.
Definitely not worth the money. I had the chicken marsala and I think it’s better at Olive Garden. A glass of wine for $9.50 is ridiculous. The wine I had you can buy at Winn Dixie. The only reason I got it was because it was the one the cheapest. I will definitely not be going back.
Nice Surprise. My family visited Via Emilia Sunday for lunch; what a pleasant surprise. The restaurant was small and quaint with an atmosphere that allowed you to forget that you were located on a busy street across from a university. The service was a little off but the food made up for any shortcomings. Our group ordered: chicken and waffles, shrimp carbonara, chicken cacciatore, jambalaya, and a special request due to food allergies. Everyone was pleased with their entre so we decided on Tiramisu for dessert. Overall, we had a very good dining experience with authentic tasting Italian food, making us feel like we were back in Italy. We will be visiting again in the future.
