I unfortunately forgot to take pics because I was too hungry. Cucos is just okay – its not a unique or authentic Mexican restaurant. I didnt think the food was incredible, but I also didnt think it was bad. I felt the food was mildly seasoned and not a true show of Mexican flavors. The tamale I had was crunchy and soft, but left me wanting. The rice was nothing special either. The service, however, was great and the establishment was welcoming. I honestly wouldnt go back a second time, just because there are so many other restaurants to try out.
I used to like it. I visited last week and was extremely disappointed in the service and the decor. I personally don’t like sitting on bench seats within earshot of someone else’s conversation. Definitely not a great place to take a first date. You can’t have a private conversation. The other location was much better in my opinion.
Very disappointing yet unfortunately expected. I never had Cucos when it was located at the location on Court Street, nor have i ever been to their other location on the east side of Montgomery. I have heard mixed reviews about the place and was excited to see the new location on Dexter. Peering through the windows for weeks, I could not wait to see if the food would match the decor. Rustic wooden planks on the wall, steel light fixtures and a long bar made this place look like it would be one of my new hang outs downtown.Yesterday, I had lunch with a friend here. I was very disappointed. I ordered the quesadilla lunch special, but there was nothing special about it. A plate cam out with four tiny triangles of what looked like something you would make at home. You know, throw a tortilla in the pan, sprinkle cheese on top, let it melt, add another tortilla on top. It was served with glob of sour cream, and a smaller glob of guacamole over some tired iceberg lettuce. On the side were a few sprinkled jalapenos from a jar. I won’t be coming back to Cucos, unless they step up their food game. There are restaurants in Montgomery that have great Mexican food and only one location, I’d rather spend my money with them. triburban.com
Lunch fagitas were awesome. Great atmosphere. Service was spot on. Best Black Beans ever. Highly recommend.
15 Minute Express a Great Deal. Comes with complimentary chips and salsa. Very thin chips and a fresh salsa. I can recommend the Sour Cream Chicken Enchilada off the quick menu. Much better than I had expected.
