Neat store. This is a small niche grocery with a deli and a line. We had breakfast. Not the greatest meal/breakfast, but for a line it was solid. Much better than a hotel option and the store has a great beer and wine selection. The experience is worth a try. I would eat there again or would like to lunch.
Poor Customer Satisfaction Skills. I have always loved eating here when I come to Montgomery for meetings and they cater many of our events for the company I work for. This visit was disappointing because I chose meatloaf and two sides, sweet potato for dessert and a drink . My cost was $15.09. However the meatloaf was not to my liking and I asked to swap for a different meat choose of equivalent value, the owner refused and stated the meatloaf was fine and it was prepared the way it always is and that they have a no refunds, no exchanges, no exceptions policy. So I went to purchase a meat, 1 fried catfish filet and was told the cost is $8.75 and it was better to purchase a meal. But I had already purchased a meal. I was only trying to enjoy it. Terrible, horrible customer service.

Whenever I have guests visit Montgomery, I always make it a point to take them to Derk’s! It’s always great and I love the many different options they have for the day.
The price seems a little high for what you get. 1 Fried chicken breast, 2 veggies, roll and tea and my cost $11. But the fried chicken breast I got was a monster piece of meat. It tasted great and was very hot with heat. I would repeat
One of my favorite restaurants in Montgomery. Good home cooked food. Extremely fast if you do the premade dishes. It’s part deli, grocery, quality beer/wine store, and comfort food go-to!
