A prime example of what poor management can do to a restaurant. When we went at 7:30 on a Saturday night, theyre were literally 4 customers in the entire restaurant. We were eventually greeted at the register with the death stare, insinuating that we had obviously bothered the person responsible for taking orders. Once Mr. Grumpy finished taking my money, we went to find a seat. I took a picture to show just a few of the tables that had yet to be cleaned, there were 9 tables total that had old food sitting in them. One of the booths had the tableOverturned in it, another had someones gym bag sitting on it. We took a seat at a table that had a table full of someone elses old food sitting on it. I went to get some of their famous tea and when I tell you it was rotten, it was stanky nasty rotten. Know I know why they call it famous, itll make you spit it back into your cup in .03 seconds! I was hoping that it was famous for being good, but I guess beggars cant be choosers. The baffling part was that the workers were shucking and jiving in the kitchen the entire time we were there, yet no one seemed to find it important enough to clean the tables. The guy who cooked our food was the only saving grace to the night. Our food was good and he delivered it perfectly. Why on earth is this guy not running the show? I asked him where the manager was and all he could do was give me a sad look as he said I dont know. Newks is too nice, too new and in nice enough area to have this going on in their restaurant. Someone from corporate needs to take some time out if their busy schedule and spend a few weeks in Montgomery. Word of mouth is important to any business and believe me, it was so bad Ive found it to be my obligation to tell everyone about it. Sorry Newks, you need to do better.

Nasty food !!!. I ate here because I had it while in Tuscaloosa and it was great!!! I got the turkey avocado sandwich and the avocados were rotten!! The turkey was also too salty and bread too hard. I wasn’t pleased. I won’t be back. Montgomery is known for bad customer service and bad food at restaurants. Nothing here is good. I hate it.

Good Experience At Newk’s. First visit to Newk’s for a Friday family dinner. We ordered a Royal Sandwich with Pasta Salad, a Club Sandwich with potato chips and a Pepperoni Pizza. For joining the online Roundtable Club I received an e-mail for a free slice of $3.45 cake. The sandwiches were fresh and hot on soft rolls. The pizza was marginal using what we guessed was frozen dough. By the time we sat down after retrieving our self-serve (with included refills) drinks, our food was served. The Red Velvet cake had vanilla icing, not a cream cheese icing which defines a Red Velvet. It was tasty for what it was. They do have others which I may try on a subsequent trip. The staff was friendly and fast and a manager checked in with us. We shall return.

Arrived after church, luckily before the big crowd. Had the pesto sandwich and pasta and hubby had the club and tortilla soup. Portion and taste were both good. Service was friendly. I would recommend to friends, based on our experience.

A decent family friendly place. Uses quality ingredients and gives good size portions. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. If you get a take out order, I would recommend checking all items prior to leaving…I order take out often, and 9 times out if 10 my bag is missing something.
