Service sucks, so does the food. We went there on Wednesday lunch. My friend didn’t like the shredded pork when he ordered the combo, so he told the waitress to put more pork chop to replace the shredded pork. We were a table of six. All of us heard and laughed at him that since he was the only one had such request. However, after half hour the waitress brought the shredded pork only in the combo without one single porkchop . She didn’t say anything after we told her the correct order again. My friend was very hungry while waiting for the combo. Then he asked the waitress for a small bowl of noodle(no meat or seafood). Without telling us anything, she gave him a bowl of noodle soup. Two friends ordered two plates of onion. Again, the waitress didn’t say anthing. After another 30 minutes, the combo finally came. When I went to the counter to pay, I found that we were charged for the bowl of noodle soup, the additional pork chop and the onions. I told that manager that the waitress never told us about the extra pay for any of those. If she informed or explained to us about it, we would have considered it. To our surprise, he just simply appologized and still told us to pay. I have been tried every Vietnamese restaurant in many different states and never encountered any experience like this. Apparently, the manager/owner doesn’t care about the business. We would never patron this business again!
We have visited numerous places and I have yet to rate a Vietnamese place because it’s a simple food in taste. People must know that this place is an insult to the Vietnamese cuisine. I’ve read most of the reviews here, and one thing I noticed is that this is the only Vietnamese place in the area and most have just tried Vietnamese for the first time. How to possibly rate, if one cannot have anything else to compare? One of two things need to happen here, or get better on food taste or open a new restaurant elsewhere to offer an option. The staff is super friendly and presentation was good, but unfortunately it did not suffice to justify the food quality. Just to be clear, the food tasted old and very, very cold.
Best Pho in Town!. I go to Saigon Bistro for the PHO… always outstanding! I want to try other things on the menu, and each time I go I think I will order something different, but like Sir Mix-a-lot, when I see them bring out those BIG bowls of pho I get sprung! Gotta have the pho! Best in Montgomery!
First Time Having Vietnamese Food. I’m not well versed in Vietnamese food at all so I can’t speak on authenticity so I’ll just speak on general flavors. We were greeted promptly and service remained friendly and great throughout the meal. No complaints. We ordered the spring rolls, chicken curry vermicelli soup, lemon grass beef, and chicken sour soup. I loved everything! Very unique flavors. Entertains all of your palette. Sweet, salty, spice, fresh ( for lack of better words). The chicken curry soup warmed you from the inside with it’s delicious spice blend and chicken thigh pieces. Thigh pieces are great cut because they don’t dry out. Spring rolls were delicious and light served with a peanut sauce. Lemon grass beef was a substantial dish but didn’t feel heavy. A bit spicy for some, but I like the burn. Chicken sour soup is a delightful soup. Tastes of celery, fish sauce, cilantro, and lemon grass. A unique flavor blend. Would recommend!
Love it!. I love their food! they have the best soups! The people there are very friendly, and the food is reasonably priced. I recommend!
Inconsistent at Best. Driving through town I stopped here twice this week. Both times I ordered the Beef Curry. The first time it was excellent. Great flavor and well loaded with bits of beef and vegetables. The service was responsive. The second time, I could count the number of vegetables on one hand. The service was also among the worst I’ve ever received. I waited 15 minutes for a drink to be refilled. 20 minutes to get a bill once I was finished eating.
Sigh.. We eat here because it is the only Vietnamese option in Montgomery. The food is okay, but service leaves a lot to be desired, that is for sure.Specifically, we have ordered pho (soup), bun (noodle salad), cha gio (crunchy egg rolls), and ca phe sua da (iced milky coffee). The pho tastes fine; no weird tastes or anything off about it. They only serve lime, bean sprouts, and mint leaves as the accompaniments to it. Sometimes there is Thai basil, but there has not been any culantro or cilantro offered. The bun is mostly finely shredded iceberg lettuce, cucumber, bean sprouts, and carrot. Honestly, not a fan of how shredded the lettuce is. The cha gio tastes more like a Chinese eggroll as it does not have any wood ear mushrooms in it. The milky coffee comes pre-mixed but still tastes pretty fine; you just don’t get the pleasure of watching the coffee drip into the little glass.Overall, it’s a nice alternative to overly sauced Chinese food, but I’m still waiting for an outstanding Vietnamese place. Preferably, one that serves sandwiches. That will be a game-changer.
