We decided to give Garfrerick’s Cafe a try this afternoon for lunch on a Sunday. At first, it seemed like the atmosphere combined with the beautiful open kitchen was going to impress. Unfortunately, the food and the service fell short of our expectations. We arrived at around 1:20 p.m. with a party of two, and I noticed there were more employees than guests. With all these employees tripping over one another in the relatively small space, one would expect impeccable service and attention. Instead, the staff was more interested in their own personal interactions. Our server appeared to be under the influence of something, maybe alcohol. When we finally got some attention, it felt rushed. The menu lacked variety and choices for traditional lunch cuisine, but featured all the ”heavy” dinner entrees. I was practically forced to get a burger, and it was standard at best. Oh yes, it was served on a fancy plate featuring a decent bun with each of the condiments in its on separate ramekin. Although I can appreciate the gesture, all that didn’t overcome the fact that it was an average meal. We observed the cook (not chef) removing the ”homemade” kettle chips from a bag (I’ve had better from the Publix snack isle). The food wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t great either. Basically, I could have had the same thing at McDonald’s for half the price – and at least Mickey D’s has hot fries and not the imposter. We had to flag our server down to get refills, and this place was jam-packed with inattentive service staff.

We were traveling and stopped in a couple of months ago. The food is possibly the best I have ever eaten! The tomato salad was off the hook as were the shrimp and grits and crab cakes (99% crab)! If you are ever passing through, have dinner at Garferick’s Cafe!

This is our favorite restaurant we’ve ever eaten at! While interning in the area, my (then boyfriend) and I happened upon the restaurant by chance, and we were blown away by the flavors and freshness of everything. In the few weeks that we were in the area, we ate here as often as we could! Now married, we make a point to stop by any time we are driving through the area on road trips. Everything we have eaten has been good, from the steak, to the southwest chicken, to the fresh fish! You must eat here!!

Nice surprise. Fresh ingredients expertly prepared. The tomato salad is a simple masterpiece. And the crab cakes were about 99% crab…no filler. Shrimp & grits were a fine fusion of Low Country and Creole flavors.

Ah-mazing!. Just are here for our anniversary after reading reviews and it was awesome! Bruschetta, filet, scallops, and bread pudding- all amazing with delicious fresh veggies. And a great beer and wine selection. Not cheap, but it is worth the price tag

Just had lunch. Amazing bread served at the table, before the meal. I have been reading reviews and now know why people love this place. I had the grilled catfish. The veggies that came with it were luscious. My wife had the BLT, but next time, for lunch, I want to get the veggies. Dave grows the veggies on his farm. Yum.
