The desserts were awesome. Jay…all the vegetables were fresh and prepared with Love, the entree were always hot and well seasoned, cold salads were made every day. The portion sizes where enough for dinner. Yum,, Jay
A real treasure find. Food prepared well in the Southern tradition. I had speckled butter beans, cream style corn, rutabagas, corn muffin and buttermilk pie. The speckled butter beans were the best I’ve ever had. The cream corn was not as good as what you’d make but was still good. The rutabagas were cut in huge quarter size hunks and could have cooked a little longer, the flavor was right if there were only diced they would have been great, the buttermilk pie was the best ever – even better than my mom’s and was counted as a vegetable, rather than additional premium dessert. My first visit here. They have many choices. The daily menu is posted on Facebook. Located in an old school cafeteria with food served on disposable plates with plastic utensils. For price and enjoyment, they should serve on better dinnerware. Regardless, I plan on going back and working my way through the enjoyment of each offering.Yum!
I haven’t had anything here that I haven’t liked! And, if you ask the people serving the food for their favorites. Yummm!!! I have only two complaints. One, that I may be in the mood for something, and it may not be on the menu for that day. And, two, I can’t get dinner here in the evenings. My friends who can’t ever meet for lunch, will never know how great the food is here.
Delicious home cooked meals. You can get anything from meat loaf to tilapia almondine, fresh cooked vegetables and sides. Fried okra is amazing! Service was perfect.
I’ve been five times twice with the wife and all three kids. Number one the food is amazing best meat in three around. Beats out Nikis west and even Eagles in the less friendly neighborhood. It’s the old bluff park cafeteria so the nostalgia is great for me. I give it five only wish the stayed open till 6 so I could snag dinner on weekdays.
12:45 on a Saturday, my husband and I had lunch here. My choices were fried catfish, green beans and mixed greens. The catfish was slightly warm in the center and cool everywhere else. A lot of ketchup allowed a few bites of the center to be consumed. It also had a STRONG muddy taste. The green beans had so much salt that they were unidentifiable as green beans. The mixed greens were blandly average. The hush puppies were ok. My husband had meatloaf, whole kernel corn, and butter peas. The meatloaf had a bit too much bread crumbs and it lacked any seasoning flavor. The red sauce on top had a strong cinnamon flavor that was unpleasant. The corn was tough like it had been frozen too long, or was old, or was cooked too long. Flavor-wise it lacked any at all and was a bit pasty. The butter peas had the greatest potential but over salting drowned their flavor.
Great Sunday Lunch Experience! Amazing food and a nice happy atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit. Make sure you allow enough time to check out all the wonderful artwork:)
