Where Has the Quality Gone?. ‘ve been eating at Chan Lee’s for years, but recently the recipes have changed and the dishes I’ve ordered come with watery sauce. The flavor is barely there. I’m really disappointed in the changes and the lack of quality food. Even the rice isn’t as good as it used to be. The same friendly workers are behind the counter, so that’s a plus. Wish this place would go back to the dishes of the previous owners. 🙁

Best Chinese in town. I am a food snob. This place has been my favorite Chinese place for about 10 years. I am always sad when I go to other places and it doesn’t pair up even close to this place. Chan Lees is the ruler by which I measure other Chinese restaurants.

Good downtown lunch spot. Downtown Birmingham does not have many decent places for lunch. I go to Chan Lee’s pretty often. They are fast, reasonably priced, have a wide selection of dishes, and are happy to comply with special requests. There are lots of healthy, low-fat options, including a few vegetarian options. The lemon chicken is a local favorite. It has been noted on this site that the food is only average. Well, it may be average for Chinese restaurants generally, but for the downtown neighborhood it is markedly better than average.

Shrimp Fried Rice. It is always wonderful to eat. If your not afraid of the un-deveined shrimp.
