Well, well, well…. I finally got to drop into this hidden treasure. I must admit I was more impressed with the decor and perfect lighting. The service was prompt and staff was super friendly. I think I tried the Kayu PB… It was fresh and delicious!
I was apprehensive coming here knowing its staff’s reputation despite being known for great coffee. But, when we arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly welcoming young man who helped us decide what we wanted. The coffee was very good, but it’s on the ‘brighter’ side of flavor (not a bad thing, just a very noticeable characteristic). My biggest complaint is the facility itself. This is definitely not a place to go and relax and enjoy coffee and company with friends. The way the seating areas are laid out, it’s very difficult to find an intimate relaxing area to share with friends or an isolated area to enjoy your coffee on your own. My experience with staff was very pleasant and their product lives up to its hype. However, the atmosphere is not welcoming or comforting which is what I, personally, look for in a good coffee shop. But hey, you can always get your drink to go!Also, they serve ‘We Have Doughnuts’ doughnuts. If you’ve never tried these doughnuts, look-up their pop-up stands and try them immediately. This partnership definitely puts a check in Revelator’s positive box for me.
De-lish. Best coffee in town at the most affordable price. My only issue is that the two girls that work there are so beautiful that it’s actually a little painful to look at them. Maybe start hiring people whose eyebrow game isn’t as strong.
Good espresso. I really liked the espresso with milk. I didn’t experience any employees with a bad attitude. No one was overly enthusiastic or outgoing, but they were pleasant enough. The shop itself is severely modern/hip to the point of being uncomfortable. My girlfriend and I had been planning on sitting to drink our coffees but decided to get it to go after walking into the place and feeling the vibe. Other than that, though, we were satisfied.
Both their espresso and brewed coffee are tasty, but when I was there they didn’t have a good system for making drinks and taking orders for people at the register. Multiple people left without purchasing anything while I was enjoying my drink because they waited in line for so long. If Revelator could work out this and a few other kinks, I think jt could be a leading Birmingham coffee shop!
