I don’t generally have very stringent criteria for my tacos. I just want the meat to be juicy (or at least not dry), the veggies to be fresh and the cheese plentiful. I was very happy with the way the tacos here turned out (they definitely met all above criteria). In addition, the staff was extremely nice and the salsa was great (I preferred their avacado-based one). Would eat here again if I were in the area!

Hoped for better. Not terrible but there are much better tacos and burritos around Birmingham. The prices were good, staff friendly, everything was just a bit bland. I tried probably a month after they opened and I might try it again in a few months and adjust my vote if things have improved.
THIS IS UNIVERSITY TACOS NOW—next to Lucy’s–just opened in June REPLACING old University Grill. New management is nice–serving authentic tacos, burritos, & quesadillas. Breakfast time–until 10am has eggs cheese chorizo sausage & bacon choices. The fish (tilapia) and shrimp choices on the tacos are wonderful. Nice addition to UAB area eats choices. Try it for lunch this week!
The food at University Grill is great – whether it’s a two egg breakfast or a burger for lunch, the nice folks here will get you what you need.
