Popsicles are delicious no matter what your favorite favor is. A little pricey, but worth it. I plan on returning many times to try each of their seasonal favors. Be ready to wait as it seems to be crowded a lot.
Yum. Buttermilk is my fav so far. . . . sounds gross….tastes like cheesecake. Awesome!
Exciting Popsicles? YES!!. Popsicles are definitely not my first choice for dessert. This is mainly because they’ve historically been artificially flavored and colored, frozen corn syrup relegated to children’s birthday parties. However, my skeptical outlook was totally reversed by Steel City Pops. These people have mastered the art of the popsicle. With creative flavors (like Strawberry Balsamic and Buttermilk) and a texture and build that makes eating a popsicle a great experience (i.e. doesn’t fall apart and drop on your clothes), Steel City Pops is truly a culinary revelation. Bottom line: You have to try it! Even the biggest popsicle skeptic will be won over by this place.
Visitor from South Florida. I visit Birmingham every chance I get, and while there we do not miss the opportunity to go to Steel City Pops…have been to Haywood and also the Summit. The buttermilk is wonderful, but then so is the strawberry and the coffee. I could just see myself sitting on the beach in South West Florida eating a Steele City Pop, if I could just figure out how to get them here without the melting thing.
Oh Yea…. I’m not a popsicle fanatic, but Steel City Pops has some really fresh and tasty pops – way better than what you buy, boxed, in the stores. They have a very intriguing and heavy line-up of flavors. If you’re over at the Summit, you need to stop in and try one or two, especially when the climate temperature is pushing 90+ degrees of deep South, humid heat!… Don’t shy from the $3.00 price tag… It’s gourmet, done right, with volume discounts. The establishment is clean and the young and vibrant staff is quite friendly.Happy to see this team in business and prospering…
Props to the Pops!. I finally stopped by Steel City Pops. I’d heard so much about the Homewood location and when I saw the new Summit Steel City Pops after catching a movie I checked ’em out. This isn’t like a buffet or restaurant where you can try a little of everything unless you’re part of a group and everyone shares their Pop with everyone else . . . or unless you REALLY like ice cream pops and have are immune to brain freeze. I came this close to getting the blood orange pop but curiosity got the better of me and I got the Buttermilk Pop instead. I couldn’t believe that a Buttermilk-sickle could be fit to eat.A Buttermilk-sickle is fit to eat. It’s more than fit to eat. It’s a perfect treat on a hot day. I wouldn’t turn one down in winter, either. I need to go back to try the Blood Orange Pop (and the peanut butter and chocolate and lime, and all the other ones). It’s going to take many trips to give a comprehensive review…but I’m willing to take one for the team. I’m not the type of person to make a special trip to a place like this, but I am the type of person to end a movie or lunch at Zoe’s or shopping at the Summit at a place like this.
