Just trust me. In Tuscaloosa, the options once upon a time for restaurants used to be slim, but with the recent economic boom since 2012, that has changed. Five Bar opened in Tuscaloosa at a time when most restaurants were closing their doors, and have continued to thrive despite the seasons of a college town and an ever growing culinary environment. Yes, there is more competition now than ever before, and yes there are higher end options and more expensive menus to compare to, but the concept is a stand alone success. The menu was not built around a chef, it was built around a community, the restaurant wasn’t built to serve the owners, it was built to serve the people, and that’s the bottom line. The food is simple and approachable, while while complex enough to merit local competition, the drink menu is representative of their market while addressing the need for individuality amongst a downtown district of bars. Every restaurant in Tuscaloosa faces seasons of high and low business, and no one is immune, but this one keeps churning year after year while constantly keeping a fresh take on old ideas. The service has always improved and some days I wanna give those girls a hug and tell them what a marvelous job they really are doing. Trust me on Five Bar, there’s nothing else like it in Tuscaloosa.

This is my favorite place in town. Food is great and so is the service! The kitchen is visable from the dining area and you will be amazed at the number of staff. Never takes long to get your food and always consistent! Check the menu as there is always a nightly special besides the five regular choices. Salad is great and comes with your meal.
Great spot w/great food. Service was real nice both times we went; we tried the chicken and the rib eye and the baked avocado, and all were really good, fresh and hot. moscow mules were excellent too.
