It is what it is,but not bad for what it is vs what you pay. OK, there used to be a pizza place by the same name in alberta way way back in the day- it was epic-this is NOT it. They are not going to be winning any awards for great pizza, at least not for their by the slice- I have not tried a fresh made entire pizza, and I am sure it is better. They are better than cici’s that dogfood little caesars, and godawful dominos, and in my mind also better than filthy papa johns and cheap ass cardboard hungy howies. I have only had lunch there- for 5.50 you get an edible piece of piece and a refreshingly really good salad that has what tastes like homemade ranch in my case. It had cucumber and tomato, which I loathe, but a ton of cheese and also pepperoni and for the money its a great lunch deal. Parking sucks, so get there early. My wife, who always dislikes places like that, to my amazement liked it quite a bit, especially the salad. What you get for what you pay is a good deal, and the salads are really good. My only complaint- whatever horrible music station they have their radio on, for the love of god change it. Last time I was there I had to sit through led zeppelin, who I liked until then, just butcher kashmir live for what seemed like 30 minutes. Robert plant sounded like a moose being tortured to death, and it, I swear, went on for the entire time I was there. I wanted to pierce my eardrums to make the torture stop. Then they played the only thing that could make it worse..hendrix; so please, little italy, STOOOOOP. Whatever that is you are listening to, I would rather get a root canal. Just stop.
I’ve been a long time customer of this restaraunt, and had always had a decent experience, however today my friend’s order was very sluggishly brought out, and when he finally heard his name and got his pizza, he was promptly accused of stealing by the very disrespectful manager, and was charged a second time for his pizza and threatened with having the police called. The situation was not escalated by my friend, but instead by the manager who is supposed to be professional. A very disappointing experience in a restaraunt I had previously enjoyed.
One of my worst experiences ever. My friend was eagerly waiting for his pizza and once he thought they called his name he went and grabbed his pizza. Minutes after the manager accused him of stealing the pizza and his name was not on their orders. He paid again and we tried to explain to the manaanger but he was very rude and threatened to call the cops. My friend has 2 charges on his bank account and was very upset and didn’t get to eat any of his pizza. It was a very unpleasant experience.
Confused. Not sure what to make of this place. The decor is f%@&ing dreadful, and it doesnt look like its had a good cleaning since Mike Dubose was the Crimson Tide’s head football coach. And bloody hell, the place cant seem to decide if it wants to be a fine dining establishment or a little den where frat kids and college students can get a latenight bite to eat when theyre half lit up. While the ingredients for the pizza are top notch, I have come to question the motivation of some of their chefs. Too many times my pizza has been undercooked or just poorly put together. Maybe these chefs have just never been taught properly. Maybe they are hiring too many college students as opposed to experienced cooks who know what the f#*% theyre doing. But when you get a pizza made to its potential, its great. Its real NY style pizza theyre serving. And the chicken parm sub is a nice delicacy as well. If this place can get some f#@%ing leadership to guide it in the right direction it could be a very successful business, and remodel the dam place already. F@#% me!
Update: hasnt been that great lately. When my wife and I moved here a year ago this place was awesome every time we went. The last 6 months, however, havent produced the same results. The ingredients are awesome (real NY style ingredients unlike Broadway), but it seems the staff has just taken to phoning it in. They seem to be undercooking some pizzas these days and just hastily throwing them together. I think they hire too many college students with no pizza cooking experience and probably dont train them sufficiently. The temptation to be mediocre has to be great being that they are right next to U of A and they can just sell slices to students and drunk people. Either way, I hope they get their groove back cause the potential for greatness is always there with this place, and when its on its by far the best pizza around.21 May, 2013Best pizza in T-town. Trust me, this pizza is the best in Tuscaloosa. In fact, its some of the best pizza Ive ever had in my life, and its real NY style. Ive seen where some people say Broadway has better pizza, but that is absolutely not true. Broadway is total garbage. Little Italy is made with quality ingredients, and there really isnt any need to consider getting a pizza anywhere else.
