Unluckily it’s basically across the street from Surin, Tuscaloosa’s other Thai restaurant. Do not be tricked by appearances. For Thai food, this is the superior place. The food is spicer and more flavorful. It also happens to be far less expensive. Surin is great for midnight sushi, but if you want Thai go here. The pineapple fried rice comes in the shell of a pineapple. Their noodle dishes are delicious. This place convinced my small town Southern boyfriend to like Thai food.
Don’t Get To-Go. I decided to call in an order for pick-up since I live across the street one night. Ordered a simple pad thai and fried rice dish. The employee on the phone told us the order would take around 35 minutes to have ready. We gave them about 45 minutes before we walked over. When we arrive to pick up the order, the host seemed very confused and then finally found our order written down before seeing if it was behind the bar. Then several waiters came around and talked under their breath while we stood there waiting for a response about our food. After about 10 minutes, they finally say that it will be about 10-15 extra minutes. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry for 6 years, I know that most restaurants get their in-house patrons food out first and then focus on to-go orders. But, there were about 5 full tables in the whole restaurant. We sat down to wait for our food, and watched as the host told the chef that came out about our order. Our order was completely forgotten about. We got to the restaurant at about 8:15, we didn’t leave until 8:45. So sad that the service is horrible, because the food is pretty decent.
