Great service and great food!. I’ve been eating at the Tuscaloosa Shrimp Basket for two years now and just now thought to write a review. Every time I go in I receive excellent service, and the food is always tasty! I’ve tried a variety of different things off of the menu, and everything I’ve ever had has been great! If you want quick service, quality seafood served fast, and friendly service with a smile, then be sure to go to the Shrimp Basket! And I would also like to add to some comments that were made concerning the quality of the food. I use to work in the seafood distribution company, therefore I know a thing or two about seafood. The price of seafood is extremely expensive. Probably more expensive than other types of food. So if you order crab claws and don’t get as much as you think you should for the price of it, then complain to the distribution companies, not the restaurant. Also concerning where the actual seafood comes from, a lot of the seafood sold at most restaurants in this area will more than likely come from both the gulf and from overseas. If a restaurant tells you otherwise, then they’re LYING! Shrimp basket does a tremendous job with the food that they sell. Is shrimp basket a five star restaurant? NO. But is shrimp basket a captain d’s? NO. Shrimp basket is in the middle of those two, therefore let that determine how much you wish to pay for what quality of food you end up with! All things considered, the Tuscaloosa Shrimp Basket is the best in town if you want seafood!
Only seafood restaurant in town. Lived in Tuscaloosa for a few years. Most of the hillbillies in town cant cook but the basket at least has some quality seafood and a friendly staff.
LOVED IT!!. Ate here over a year ago and nothing special. My husband was craving seafood last night so I reluctantly gave it another try. I was very happy with my decision. The restaurant had a totally different atmosphere and the food was amazing!! I got the shrimp alfredo and my husband got the oyster poboy.

Awesomeness!. The Shrimp Basket was awesome has to be the best sea food in Town!! My glass stayed full my food was amazing!! I’m definitely coming back!! 🙂
I don’t understand the bad reviews! My friends and family love the place! I’ve eaten here dozens of times and have never had a bad experience. My favorites on the menu are the fried pickles, tuna dip po boy, potato salad and shrimp slaw. Kids and hubby love the popcorn shrimp. Great food, friendly staff, great atmosphere.
AWFUL. Don’t even give this place a chance like I did. I had the Mahi mahi tacos with a side of fries. It was so bad. I know what you’re thinking, how could they possibly mess up fries? Well they did, they had no flavor besides the taste of grease. I even tried adding salt and still could not eat them. The mahi mahi was also terrible and very wet. I don’t mean wet as in juicy with flavor. Just straight up soggy. I still get nauseous thinking about this place…
