Went for a special dessert which was not available after being advertised as the special. Dinner for two took 3 hours! BHM hamburger was great! The substitute desert was a creme brle which was served as a soup! Server gave us one to go to replace the unfinished one and scooped more watery custard it into a cardboard box which turned out to be a huge mess! Our bill was wrong and we had to spend time convincing and doing math for the server until he understood he made a mistake.
This place really let me down. Like wow what a disaster of restaurant week based on service alone. My utensils and dish ware were all dirty. Yeah, no thanks.
We waited an hour after having a reservation. They said it was because the tables weren’t turning which is understandable, except that when we finally were seated it was in the back corner in a not so great location. We sat for about 15 minutes with no drink order when my husband noticed something floating in his drink. I noticed other people hadn’t received any starters or any food either and that’s when we decided to just leave. Never going back. The servers did not offer us any free appetizer or anything for our wait.
Loved the Grouper appetizer and local cheese plate. Lots of great farm to table options and everyone was very well informed. Great Key Pie too!
This restaurant has unfortunately lost the luster it used to have. The food is mediocre for the price, and places like Highlands, Bottega, Cafe DuPont, and Hot and Hot are far more reliable and tasty. Overall, I am inclined not to return as I left very underwhelmed.I sincerely hope the restaurant gets back on track and can again be a star in the Birmingham dining scene.
The food was excellent on our last visit- which was my birthday- but it isnt always consistent. Slow to get drinks at the bar, and the tables are horribly cramped and uncomfortable. We ordered wine and there was no ‘wine service’, waiter just opened the bottle and set it on our table. Server was friendly, like i said food was tasty, but we were so uncomfortable at our table (the chair from the guy behind me kept hitting my back) i prob wont be back- or at the very least try my luck at the bar.
