The best Mexican place in the area. I even travel 45 mins to get here. I’ve tried the other local places and there’s no comparison this is the best. The food is always hot, fresh and cooked to perfection. They even cater to my picky requests. The owners and staff are always friendly and always make you feel welcome.
MY son and I just ate lunch there. The service was excellent – staff friendly and helpful. The restaurant was spic and span – nice atmosphere and plenty of lighting. The menu was full of choices. I had the steak fajitas and my son had the fried cheese shrimp fajitas – both were wonderful. We shared a sopapilla for desert – it was heavenly.
We went to Los Arcos for something new and to support the restaurants in the neighborhood. It was later on a Wednesday night but we were pleased to see there was a 2-for special Monday-Thursday sign outside and it was until 10 pm. We were shown to a table and given me menus. I looked to see anything about the special in the menu or on the table. Happy hour yes, meals not so much. Our waiter took our drink order and I asked about the specials. He said that some of the items were taken off the menu but pointed out some of the entrees were part of the deal. Placed drink orders while continuing to look at the menu. Our server brought our tea and to stall a little longer, we put in an order of cheese dip. Never got it or was charged. We ordered the vegetarian quesadilla and burrito deluxe. The burritos were swimming in some liquid from the meat from what I could tell. My friend’s quesadilla was such a mess that she had to cut it up and eat with a fork. I don’t remember seeing any cheese in it. It was basically vegetables in a flour tortilla. We were given the check and when totaled at the counter it came to $24. We paid and walking out we noticed that both of our items were listed on the 2-for-$12.99 deal. Not great service, food was mediocre and not given the special…I’ll support other restaurants in the neighborhood.
Taco Tuesdays!!!. I absolutely love this Mexican place! My fianc and I have been there every Tuesday night for the past couple of months. On Tuesdays, they run a .99 cent hard shell taco and draft beer special. It’s not select draft either! You can chose from Dos Equis, Corona, Modelo, you name it! You also have the choice of beef or chicken on your tacos. The Beef is delicious, and the chicken is sauted with bell peppers and onions. Their cheese is authentic Mexican queso and is delicious, BEST TACOS IN TOWN BY FAR!!! My fianc and I feast for less than $20 here every Tuesday, and now we bring friends! I wouldn’t recommend the Margaritas (too much sweet and sour mix, and weak), but you can’t go wrong with Mexican draft. I agree that the salsa kind of suck, but who has ever gone to a Mexican restaurant just for their salsa anyway?
Awesome!!!. Great food. Salsa was just OK. Kind of watery and not much flavor. Could be tweaked with some cilanto/onions and chunky tomatoes. Fiesta Bowl was really good. Strawberry daiquiri was great. Chile Relano was a half stuffed bell pepper. Did not match the quality of other dishes. Waiter was very nice.
I eat here often, and every time it’s been a great experience. I usually get the veggie or Hawaiian fajitas, & both are delicious. Also the service is great, we’ve always enjoyed our waiters and felt more than welcome. I highly recommend this place, it’s clean, quick, tasty, and friendly!
Los Arcos Irondale…. As a Texan, One is always looking for Mexican like one’s youth….I grew up in Ft. Worth, and haunted El Chico’s when it was family owned by the parents of one of my classmates….This is as close to what I remember as a youth. This establishment’s Chilies Rellenos are just like Mamacita used to make in 1957…A chili relleno is properly coated with egg white, and carefully deep fried. This place does it right. Another expedient for an easy evaluation is ordering one enchilada…..These guys actually take the time and trouble to do it right, not the flat over cooked examples that are often found at other restaurants here in Birmingham. The Ceviche is excellent, and they are one of the few places in the Ham that serve this dish. The Aguacate plate is likewise excellent, made fresh and just right…There are two menus, be sure to check the smaller one for the real good stuff, like a lot of Mexican places, the big menu has too many items and needs study to navigate, but rest assured that the food is worth the effort in this restaurant! I will be back to sample more of the menu, and I look forward to their new location in Roebuck, in the former O’Charleys on Parkway East…..
